You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm looking for something more effective and more energy-efficient than our electric oven to dry candied orange peel/candied chestnuts etc and a friend suggested a dehydrator.
I'm a bit wary, given that I can't afford a particularly expensive model, and don't have the space for one either, so I wondered whether anyone on here has one, and whether it's worth investing. A lot of the reviews I have read seem to suggest that the cheaper ones either break or don't dry food properly, or both, so recommendations for good ones would be appreciated!
Someone my wife works for has one and uses it all the time.
She dries all sorts, including green stuff that I wouldn't usually eat but is damn tasty with sugar and cinnamon on it.
Not sure which model but will find out.
I've used one of these
http://www.ezidridehydrators.com.au/
purchased back in about 2000 for £90,
works quite well, dries most food out to a leathery consistency
if kept in air tight containers lasts a long time.
