Being a huge Queens of the Stone Age fan, yet thinking that the last album was not up to scratch, has anyone heard the new album in full?

I understand that it is due for release on monday, and have heard snippets and that they are streaming it in full on itunes, but living in rural Norfolk i can't get good enough 3G reception to stream music and we don't get broadband (great eh??)

Hoping it is back to standard!!

Did you see them on Jools Holland the other week ? (If not... get on iplayer)

They sounded more riff heavy to me... so more like earlier stuff as opposed to the more "stoner rock" of recent output.... Happy Days

As an aside did anyone see Deep Vally on Jools this week? Those girls ROCK ... looking forward to seeing more of them tonight

Yes, I've heard the whole thing and thought it was bloody great. Well up there with their best stuff. Songs, riffs and Homme's voice sounding great.
(I just have to shut out the fact that Elton bluddy John is on the album!)

Dad rock! 😀

To listen on the website by the way, just close the red graphic thing and the videos start - don't click "listen".

Glad it harks back to old then, Era Vulgaris to me was almost unlistenable.

Would love to see them on Jools Holland, and will try and find a way of getting iplayer somehow!! Hate not having broadband or decent 3G

Nothing wrong with Elton John cameos (as long as he doesn't sing): His one on the last Alice in Chains album was excellent.

If he sang, I'd chuck the album in the bin (figuratively speaking).
The crap voice is the main reason why I hate him!

Basically... w.g.a.s. 🙂

DezB - gotcha. ta.

I'm hoping its like a Tool album, something that needs lots of listens to and then becomes an addiction.

I'm preferring the AIC album at the moment.

Bit underwhelmed on first couple of listens, but it's growing on me know.

They're very definitely dad-rock now BTW (not a bad thing though, just a thing).

Good review here from the NME. (wow, it's inspired them to write more than a 50 word review!)

Of course they are dad rock.

Homme is almost the same age as me and I'm a dad so by extrapolation.... (And anyway, why would I want to listen to appallingness that my daughters think is cool?) 🙂

Listened to it once and I think it's a grower. Not as immediate as Lullabies but vastly better than Era Vulgaris.

I think all their more recent stuff takes a while to sink in.

Got hold of it yesterday, and I think I love it. Got a lovely flow to it. It's no Songs For The Deaf, but it's definitely up there. The more recent albums I have found to have a few duff spots, but this one stays strong from start to finish. Quite short though.
