I would like one to build a cast-iron case for BT to fix my line for free, please. They are £5 in Argos but still seems like a bit of an outlay since I will never use it.

I probably have a few in the garage.

Where are you, as it might cost a bit to post?

(Not very) Interesting fact (for mountain bikers)

When everybodies phone looked like this (or a variation on the colour)

and was supplied by the G.P.O. They were made at the Cwmcarn telephone factory. Apart from the coal mine by far the biggest employer in the area.

2 thoughts molgrips; charity shops sometimes have them for a couple of quid, and large organisations often have a few lying about. If you know anyone in such an organisation, you could 'borrow' a phone for a while.

Forgot I'd started this thread 🙂

Thanks folks, I'm in Cardiff but going to London (Southwark) on Tuesday. Would love to re-use someone's spare instead of buying a new one. Grantway, where abouts are you? East end somewhere isn't it? Might work for me, I'll be done by 12 ish.

I used to have one btw that was in the bin in a council office, as it didn't work very well. Dry joint on the handset speaker wire 🙂 No idea where that went mind, was years ago.

As the nice man from O2 suggested, buy corded phone from Argos (£4.29 I think), test phone, then return to Argos next day for money back. I bought the phone but not didn't think it was really worth the return trip for £4.29. Now I've got to stop the wife installing the cheap corded phone into an extension instead of a cordless as she has decided it looks nice 🙄
