I need to get a large item to an Argos store for Click & Collect.  Although a bit of a PITA, it would still be easier to courier it myself.  Anyone done this, or will they turn me away?

I read recently that it’s possible to order items from Tesco via EBay and have them delivered to an Argos in a Sainsbury’s.

What times we live in.

Hang on, so you want to deliver the item to the buyer's convenient Click & Collect point? Erm... I can think of an easier solution!

The problem you'll have is there'll be no tracking information - the receiving shop won't have anything to identify the package to register receipt from you or who should be receiving it from them- the person collecting won't have anything either.

I don't think they'd take it. All sorts of funny business could go on if they did things like this.

Also in Ebay's eyes it will seem like the package hasn't been sent - leaves you open to getting rinsed if the buyer paid by paypal

Not saying anyone is wrong-I’m having doubts myself, but isn’t that what the eC code is for on the parcel? From eBays perspective does it matter if I’m the courier, if they can still track that parcel has been delivered to store with the correct code. What ‘extra’ does using a courier provide?

Nothing as far I can see.

Doesn’t the store scan the parcel as it arrives to confirm it is there.(your “proof of posting”)

Then scan it again when it leaves to confirm it has been collected by the buyer?

Cant see why the arrival method would make any difference really. Courier or personal - the parcel gets scanned exactly the same ?

So are you paying for the courier service but taking the parcel to the destination yourself?

There is a weight limit of 15kg for Argos Click & Collection service - this isn't a courier imposed limit but something to do with Argos not accepting anything heavier.

Argos click and collect is just convenient for the buyer - surely if you are prepared to courier it yourself you could just message the buyer and ask when they are available for you to personally drop off the item?

Also worth noting that if you don't deliver to the address on the eBay order then you won't be covered under eBay's seller protection. To get around this you need confirmation from the buyer that they are happy to deliver to a different address (if you were to delivery to the buyer as opposed Argos click and collect)

That'll probably be because in a lot of instances the 'Collect' point isn't a branch of Argos  (with all their convayor belts and racks etc) but the customer services desk in a branch of Sainsbury's. So the weight issue is because some soul behind the desk has to tramp off to go and get it when you collect.

Made me popular when I had ten 15kg parcels to collect 🙂

If only supermarkets had some kind of wheeled device you could transport items in.

Common sense has prevailed I think. Delivering direct to seller.

I’ll accept the risk on seller protection & fingers crossed won’t get screwed over-she seems trustworthy.

Did seem like the sensible option 🙂

I bet Argos wouldn't accept anything from a non registered courier anyway.
