Installed OTA onto my N5 this morning. Installed perfectly and seems to be running as it should. Really liking it TBH. Lock screen notifications a big step forward. Lighter, more contemporary look is bang on. Only dislike is Chrome tab management - haven't figured it out yet.

Seem to remember something in the install saying you could go back to the old style of chrome tabs if you wanted.

Chrome > Settings > Merge tabs with apps

Turn off to go back to tabs in chrome, turn on put tabs in the app switcher (square menu button)

Menu buttons make me think of Sony PS - circle, square, triangle....

Seemingly OK on a Nexus 10 - youtube plays, Netflix plays, etc.

I did a factory reset.

Only screw-up is the PluralSight offline player is borked, and one of the reasons for trying the upgrade was to see if it improved its performance as it stutters a lot with some of the videos.

I got bored of waiting for it to come through on my nexus 4 so followed this: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2mgh8o/nexus_4_lollipop_ota_link_and_update_guide/

Worked with no problems.

Well I've cleared the cache for every app on my n5 and while better its not right. Scrolling the screen is really show and jerky.
I'm currently playing with my mum's n10 running lolly and the same problem here. Again I've been through and cleared the cache for all apps but screen scrolling is painfully slow. I'm going to have to factory reset both devices. Jeez, I gave my n4 to my fiancee and frustratingly she has stead fast refused to try it, clinging to her old dumb Nokia..... Smart girl it seems.

You could try this:

you need to go into developer mode -in settings/about tablet tap the build number 7 times, then you'll find a new developer settings item appears in the main settings menu. The animation scale options are in there
http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/nexus-7-killed-by-lollipop-what-next/page/2

Go into the developer options as above. There are three options under "Drawing" in Developer Options :
-Window animation scale
-Transition animation scale
-Animator duration scale
Turn all three to 'Animation off'.

then, under the 'Apps' subheading (in developer options still), set Background Process Limit to "at most, 2 processes".

My N4 and N7 have been flying along since I did that.

I may just side load 4.4.4 again or take a look at XDA devs and see what is hot.... Cyanogenmod based probably. I really don't think I should have to do that with devices as new as the 5 and 10 though, or the 4 tbh. Still my old desire is still going OK on mild wild, and it had ground to a halt on froyo 2.1.1. Seems Google are struggling with some of the basics

OK currently on the 10 and have set animation off and background services to 2. Looks possibly better, but I'd still day it was smoother on KitKat. The screen is occasionally flickery, or moves a bit, almost like it goes in and out of focus. I'll see how it goes. Getting frustrated though.

Yep this is s*** and it's not my eyes. As I sit here and the adverts over there >>>>. Scroll round, one or two lines of text up here ^^^ wobble up and down in sync with the advert scroll! Its really annoying.

Well my Nexus 4 got its update last night, I set it going and rebooted then left it to 'optimise its apps' whilst I slept.

This morning it was looking nice and fresh, I gave Gmail permission to steal all my emails and then things started going wrong.

I had to restart to get wifi. Restart to get mobile data. Over the following three hours I hardly used the phone but noticed it kept freezing on the lock screen and various apps were giving not responding popups, even stuff I never use like Google Docs.

Trying to use Spotify to pipe music into the van radio was a bit of a disaster, everything including the launcher freezing.

Now at work, since 9am its been completely locked up and after each restart it takes ages to find reception and pick up a data connection.

And my power toggle widget has disappeared so no longer have notification short cuts to start tethering or keep the screen awake 🙁

(Other than that, for the five minutes it worked (before I got out of bed!) I like the new look!)

Anybody know how to turn off email notifications on a nexus 4. I did it before but can't remember how.

My phone has now got so bad, its only use is a pretty paperweight 🙁 Just a couple of screen touches causes it to freeze and needs a reboot.

Sorry to hear that spooky. My N4 also did the deed last night and now it's lovely. Even kinda like the chrome tabs in the apps list, just would like each tab to use the chrome icon.

My N4 was a bit unhappy last night after its update but is running well again today. generally pleased with the up date but I'm not a fan of rolling all my email accounts into the Gmail app.

Finally a quiet moment at work, wiped the cache in the recovery partition and it seems to be loading quicker so fingers crossed!

Me neither so I installed the Cloudmagic email app that I use on my galaxy s4 on to my Nexus7 after the lollipop update. All is well with my emails again 🙂

B.A.NAna - brave move after my experience over the last 24hrs! Its still broke. Still showing as charging despite unplugging it 2 hours ago and just going through yet another reboot and some googling to try and fix it...

Edit: Google+ now not responding, and it can't really do anything without freezing up.

Edit edit: Its currently lurching along as I try and get to the developer options to try adjusting the drawing settings as suggested above...settings is currently a black screen.

Anyone else's screen not wake up on incoming call? Fixed it for now by turning off lock screen security, but that's not ideal!

working fine, I think. keeps asking me which home app I want, Nova Launcher or Launcher, don't know what to select, so just by-passing it for the mo. Seem to recall I installed Nova Launcher, so might go for the safe option of launcher (assuming that's stock?).
Can't help you daveh as I never bothered with locking screen.

Launcher hmmm...I remember changing the launcher to the other preinstalled option after the Kitkat update so perhaps I can try changing that back...

spooky, I never did much fiddling/upgrading/changing of mine as I'm not technically apt, anything I did do would have been fairly superficial apps ie nova launcher (can't even recall what exactly that does) and ES file Explorer. I've lost the live wallpaper I had and now can't find it, it might get re-instated if I selected Nova Launcher, I suppose.

Flagged up on my N4 last night. Forgot to click install before I went to bed so doing it now. In fact it's just finished. Took a while to install this one.

hmm, kind of wish I had clicked the option to import old app icons as the new ones are a bit sucky. And why does the calender look so rubbish. They have ditched the borders.

edit: okay, I like the new calender features but just had to delete and reinstall the widget to get anything to appear on it. Now I have all the holidays twice which is annoying

Installed it on my N4 a couple of days ago. Not noticed many changes other than visual ones as yet. Only the lock screen notifications but I haven't played with it in depth - got a 5 coming today so I'll probably investigate new features on that when it arrives.

Got it on my Nexus 4 yesterday.

I used to use the email app for my POP/IMAP account with my ISP.

The email app now redirects to gmail but gmail does not sync with my ISP. The account settings don't show any POP/section section so it looks like it's never going to sync.

Not happy.

I've tried a lot of Android email programs and settled on K-9 as I have multiple mailboxes (all using IMAP) on multiple different platforms/servers and it seems the 'nicest' and 'best' for my use (although I think I still prefer the iOS email program).

Well my Nexus 4 has had Lollipop for 2.5 days now, its probably had 50 reboots, cleared the cache twice, uninstalled most of the apps and changed those drawing options.

In that time I've managed a couple of hours of Spotify, composed half a post on here in the browser before it froze, and although its freezing less often, I cannot seem to access my photos at all, Google Play, G Now, G +, the Youtube App, Gmail are all inaccessible. No successful calls or texts, and I can't even view my phone book for more than half a second before it shuts. Consistently struggles to get mobile reception and mobile data is even rarer.

I'm sure that on Kitkat I was given the option between two default launchers, and I changed it as one of the apps (I think it was misshaps which displays contact info after the lockscreen times out in case the phone is lost) didn't play nicely with one of them. But on Lollipop I can't see how to change it back, the Internet wants me to install a launcher thing from Google Play but I can't as Google Play won't open!

And the biggest problem? Although my laptop makes a sound when I plug my phone into it, and my phone knows it is connected as a media device, it won't show up on the computer so I can't back up my photos before doing a full reset. (I know I know, should have done it before but didn't think to do it!)

Any suggestions? I haven't checked to see how much is backed up to Google drive yet and currently the phone is frozen on its lock screen...

Nexus 4

Initially terrible, phone running really hot all the time and battery dropping ultra fast.

Then cut my old apps, cleared cache, rebooted a couple of times and it now works great.

Love the easy to find torch and hotspot buttons.

Working fine on Nexus 4 here.

Where's the torch then? And what's a hotspot?

Is it like this?

Where's the torch then?

2 finger swipe down

except it's not a torch, it's a flashlight (that lights up, but doesn't flash)

update.

the N4 doesnt like to hold onto my home wifi and too easily switches to 3G, nice extra charge on my phone bill this month. if it doesnt get the hang of it i will have to keep switching mobile data on/off which is a pita.

it also doesnt like charging the battery if its doing anything else, it gets hot as hell instead.

After four days of meddling I've managed to backup my data by turning off Google Now and going on flight mode (during which time the phone received its first text message since the update?!!) and about 10 reboots later I finally managed to copy my stuff without it freezing halfway through.

A factory reset/data wipe and its now running like a dream for the past 30 minutes.

I think it was the various Google apps constantly crashing that made it impossible to get anywhere - in the developer options I ticked the box so it warned me about everything that crashed not just the foreground apps, and could see Google Now was a consistent offender.

So Mrs P has a N4 with beta Lollipop. Still waiting for the OTA update as my assumption is it is done by handset not android build. Is that right or are we waiting for hell to freeze over too?

Think that's correct, luck of the draw when it comes through. Also, if you ignore it, it disappears again! I'm holding off doing the N4 and N7 yet, it's mainly fine on my N5 but in addition to the lock screen incoming call wake thing, yesterday I had the keyboard up during a call and couldn't get rid of it, and this morning trying to play a video stored on the phone was a glitchy mess. 5.0.1 or 5.1 required!
