One of our residents provided a +ve test on Friday. Was the quickest I've ever seen one go positive. I seem to have avoided it, again. *touch wood*.
Several folk at work have been off ill over the last month or so with "a really bad cold" or "like flu".
Felt a bit rough yesterday evening, struggled to sleep due to a phlegmy cough and muscle aches, now just feeling rough and achey and a bit sorry for myself, so presumably just normal manflu.
Why suspecting COVID @n0b0dy0ftheg0at?
Lateral flow tests are still available, test and make sure. As Sandwich Jr is currently suffering long covid I am less than sympathetic to those who spread the plague because it costs a couple of quid to test and make sure.
@Bunnyhop it seems that the message that it's an airborn infection hasn't permeated all areas of the NHS.PP3 masks are the most efffective means of preventing spread.
Had slight runny nose, lasted a day, never really gave it much thought, next day felt a bit lethargic but eating ok, 10.00pm suddenly started vomiting. After a bad night and now coughing up blood and difficulty breathing my wife called an ambulance. Put on oxygen and blue lighted to local hospital. Diagnosed with covid which had infected my lungs. I was in hospital, on oxygen, for nearly two weeks before being discharged. That was four weeks ago, now feeling fine and back riding my bike so all good. I should say I have anca P3 vasculitis, the treatment for this gives you very low immunity. Unfortunately if I get covid again the same thing could happen.
☝️ Blimey.
Impressive recovery though!
It's down to a brilliant NHS. Care and treatment was nothing less than excellent.☝️ Blimey.
Impressive recovery though!
Me and MrsD both had fairly bad flu type bugs the last few weeks - fever, days off work, and then coughs and general roughness lasting 15-20 days.
Felt very COVIDy, but we both tested negative. So i dunno. MrsD picked it up at a work do - two days later half her office were off sick!
Well, I'm official - forgotten we had a box of tests. Spent part of yesterday with my parents who are in their 80s and my daughter who is flying to Lisbon for a gymnastics event on Monday. Really hope I've not passed it on.
I reckon picked it up at a packed Paphos airport, main symptom for me is a persistent cough and sounding hoarse, feeling generally a bit under par, that's two weeks now 😕
Tested positive a couple of weeks ago, I had what I thought was a cold the week before, and had recovered from it OK. Then the following week the "cold" returned, by the end of the day I felt completely drained, went to bed and had the worse fever, hands felt like they were on fire. Over the worse of it now, but still got some weirdness going on with my lungs.
Still a No-Vid here. Same for my wife and kids. Never tested +ve for it. That includes working in healthcare during the chaotic months, and a 6 month jaunt around Europe as soon as we were allowed to leave Aus. I've had patients that have had it, and direct 1:1 time with them. Lots of other staff have been off recently too.
Restless nights sleep, still aching all over, coughing up and sneezing some unpleasant hiviz phlegm. Most disappointing is i can't seem to taste my coffee this morning
I was reading a study for influenza from last winter, and in the US about 2.6% of subjects caught PCR confirmed flu. But three times as many caught COVID. This was in healthy people taking a drug to prevent flu infection. Plenty of it about and I said at the beginning that we’ll all catch it every couple of years.
Still no smell from 2000. I don’t test myself come every infection, but wiped out this weekend and definitely incubating something.
@Sandwich Neither my partner or I were socialising with anyone while ill for several weeks, so spending money on some test kits saved nobody else from getting ill from us.
A number of symptoms/patterns lined up with our previous covid infections, which had led to us both having long covid for a number of years, including...
Partner coughing frequently, me barely coughing at all
Altered taste perception
Multiple cases of starting to feel better, then suddenly waking up next day feeling much worse
Extreme fatigue
Aching all over
My vastly reduced power numbers compared to three years ago took another battering and haven't recovered over a month after this 2.5-3 week infection ended (20mins ~320W until Oct '22, was ~230W through '24 until first respiratory infection Apr '25, now ~180W and such an efforts leave me with PEM for days/weeks since Oct '22).
Just had a phone consultation regarding my prostate and I need to get bloods done again. Mentioned I'd just tested positive but just going to the local hospital for a blood test when positive is within current NHS protocols
I guess you could wear an FFP3 mask whilst there?
I guess you could wear an FFP3 mask whilst there?
Just going to leave it till next week, should be ok by then.
Been sleeping 11-12 hours a night, which is crazy, still wiped out all day. Appetite beginning to come back tonight
Shoulda kept me gob shut!
Spent an afternoon in a tiny office with a colleague who was unwell but -ve. He messaged me 7am next day to say he was +ve. Took 3 days but eventually I got it. Perfect timing too - 4 days before the wife and kids flew out to UK! (All negative the morning they left).
Snotty, bit achey but not like a flu ache where you're totally buggered. Just shaking off a heavy chesty phlegm but otherwise fine. Work was taking the piss as I was telling them I'd not had it yet..... Never works when you say you've never won the lotto eh??
On a packed and hot train on Wednesday.Feeling a bit knackered this weekend and a metallic taste in my mouth.Somewhat chesty to.Should I go and buy the tester!
