Any good?
Or is a soundbar with separate subwoofer better?

Sound is always a personal taste and is affected by environment to a degree, however...

At the weekend I picked up an Onkyo LST-10 following some advice here. Awesome sound (IMO), simple optical connection to my sky box, and bluetooth connection from an appropriate device.

It even turns itself on and off with the Sky box so its literally forgetable but awesome at the same time.

Its a box for people like me who don't need to fiddle or have many options IMO, and a good one at that.

However, if you want a Sony DAV880 with CD, Amp and speaks including Sub you can have one for £50 collected 😀

Erm that might have been me... 😯
Of the ones I saw in Richer Sounds it was the best

I was wondering how people get along with them in real life once they're back home and using them

Yes, samsung one with a sub & samsung 40" telly.
Sound is better than telly on it's own but not as good as surround.
I don't like after thought cables everywhere so this was the best compromise. Although i did have a fairly heated debate withy my s/o about it, she was of the opinion that 'a £400 tv shouldn't need another £150 spending on speakers'. Which is a fair point i suppose.

Mos - that's a familiar discussion in our house

If it was you elShalimo then very much appreciated. Its got good depth to the sound, and rounded bass and the no-wire convienience is exactly that I wanted.

@ plumber - the good thing about the Onkyo is that it turns itself on an off when the source device (Sky box or DVD player for example) is switched on/off.
