Looking at purchasing one of these in MWB flavor for hauling the bike around and putting some seats in, thinking convert to a day van.
Are they reliable? Seem to be good vfm with the amount of toys you get on most of them (cruise control etc).
Looking second hand max budget 8k.
Neighbour likes his better than his slightly newer Crafter if that's any use.
Taller, wider, shorter than my Mk7 Transit, but mine is LWB and his is MWB, both med roofs.
My dad's had one since new.
Significantly more reliable and less rotty than his Mk5 6 and 7 transits.
He had a string of transits prior to getting a dispatch- which ended up being too under powered for towing(despite being rated for it) His digger which is why he went for the 2.3 as even though it has the same power as the dispatch it is miles better at towing and you don't need to play the gearbox like a squeezebox
It's good on mpg as well. He has been commuting between Bordeaux and Aberdeen every couple of weeks with the back and his trailer fully loaded one way (moving his equipment and personal belongings to his house) for the last 3 months between his house and finishing off some client projects here in the UK. It's surprisingly comfy and relaxing to drive over long distabce. I did my trailer test in it and I would agree.
Not so car like in the dash as the transit but it's held up well. He used to replace his transits every 3 years due to them being total rot boxes and we are on year 4 with this and he wouldn't be interested in changing If it wasn't for needing a left hooker and wanting a crew cab
In summary - its been a top van
Thanks for the replies guys, I don't seem to be able to find a bad word about them in general.
Is the 2.3 engine in the NV400 the same that they put in the Fiat Ducato that their owners rave about?
