Hi all, I brought a nexus 10 yesterday - currently at the depot awaiting me picking it up. I'm now umming and ahhhing (you can send it back for free) as i'm wondering if I should have brought a Nexus 7.

I want it for sitting on the sofa surfing the web, watching videos whilst on the turbo trainer (if I ever persuade myself thats a good idea!), and watching videos on the plane. Is it too big for that?

Given the ipad is the same size, feel free to comment as well 🙂 Thanks!

It's subjective - both sizes have their fans.

Where did you buy it from? My gf wants one but we've not been able to find anywhere selling them.

I don't have one, but I've used the iPad which is quite a good size for general internetting and videos.

We bought an ipad last month and really like it - transformed the concept of "computing" for us (and I was a bit of naysayer when they first came out). We got a full sized one as the wife was adamant but I'd have been happy with the mini. Whilst the physical size is quite different the screen size is not so much (on the apple products at least) as the boarder is so much smaller on the mini. The littleun could be held in one hand whilst you tap with the other whilst the bigun really need two hands to hold it for a prolonged period or rest it on something. I think the smaller one would be a better ebook reader in bed.

Either is good but personally I'd have been happy with the smaller one and £100 in my pocket.

I actually have two due to a massive purchasing fail, initally I brought a 32gb one one the basis i wanted a bunch of movies on it. I subsequntly found out I could just plug a memory stick into it via the USB port.... hence I now have a 16GB as well (dispatched about 2 minutes before I canceled)....

I'm keeping the 16gb but you're welcome to have the 32gb one (for the cost obviously as it's unopened!). That said if you're keen on avoiding buying stuff off a random guy on the internet, I'd suggest you click on the link below....

Indeed, that's why i'm vexxed! Probably don't want it to read in bed as i tend to use my phone for that or use a proper book.

My wife has a nexus 7 already and whilst it's great sometimes the little screen doesn't do websites quite as well. The screen on the 10 is also apparently lovely.

I have a 10" HP Touchpad and an iPad Mini
TBH - the smaller Mini does all I need and I don't feel it's being held back by its size at all, in fact for travelling, it's perfect as it easily fits in a pocket.

buying the ipad has made me have a hate then love again relationship with my pre-existing iphone 4s for this sort of reason. After a week or so of using the ipad, the iphone seemed pathetic with its tiny screen. Now I've gone full circle and use the ipad for stuff I used to use the iphone for about the house and love the fact the iphone is so small and portable (in comparison is S3s and the like) and started using it just as a genuinely "mobile" device as I guess it was first intended with enough of the ipad's functionality to be useful on the go in the smallest sensible package.

Have a 10" Xoom and a Nexus 7 in our house. Both have their plus points. Would say the bigger screen is preferable for 'sofa surfing' (but the 7 is perfectly fine too, I do most sofa surfing on the 7 as the 10 is the wifes and usually in use too) and smaller 7 screen better for e-book reader. If we only had one tablet it would be 10", as it's a bigger 'leap' from the phones, though the 7 does fill the gap nicely combining a decent sized screen with portability.

I ummed and ahhhed, looked at the Nexus and bought an Asus transformer with detachable keyboard. 😀
