As above anyone got one ,the present one is knackered and it seems to be more than the belt as its over 10 years, these ones supposedly save up to 200 quid a year so am thinking of just getting one, do they have a hose any upsides or downsides, thinking of a samsung one as it has a 5 year warranty, cheers

We have one. It's fine. Supposed to be cheaper, but we don't use it that much anyway, mainly bought for towels and bedding. Beko I think, it was a bit more expensive than a condenser. It takes a while to do its thing but makes stuff dry.

Slow but efficient.

As standard they fill a drawer with the water, but you can usually plumb the water pipe into a drain.

Our new one (bosch I think) has a drawer that can also be plumbed in. It was expensive but I believe worth it. Due to putting 80% of our washing through it.

Yes. Bosch. Plumbed in. On a platform in a washer sized alcove above the washer.

50kg.

Have you tried lifting a 50kg 1 metre cube into an alcove at chest height?

Works well though.

Yes, pretty efficient. Don't get as hot as standard driers which reduces the chances of doll sized clothes when the wrong things get chucked in.

Edit ours is a Samsung, more than happy with it, listed longer than some of its traditional predecessors.

They have different efficiency ratings. A month or so ago we got a Samsung one a+++. Reckon the extra efficiency of it will pay For the additional cost over a a++ one. But that of course depends how many times we use it in reality and the price of energy. There are Miele ones that are even more efficient again but significantly more costly so didn’t think they’d pay back for us.

I got mine from appliance city that I found Were a fair bit cheaper than AO for Samsung but might have just been a special offer so May not be the case now.

Seems ok so far but Plays an annoying tune when finished.

Ours was rubbish- expensive LG one, took all day to dry stuff, broke just outside warranty.
Didn’t bother to fix it as the fix cost the same as a regular dryer.

You can turn the annoying tune off.

Tell me more...

I expected it to bleep or something when it was finished, or maybe play a jaunty little Japanese style jingle, but ours launches into what seems to be a full beedin' symphony.

(Takes 2-3 x as long to dry clothes as our previous condenser, but uses far less electricity.)

Beko one bought 2012. Replaced a belt and a fan in it 2020, otherwise just filters. Plumbed in. Runs until dry, no problem that it takes longer as it is gentler on clothes and can do puffer jackets. Very frugal I think it paid for itself years ago.

Yep, Bosch series 4. Plumbed it in to the washing machine drain as its in the next slot in the utility room. Doesnt appear to use much electricity at all, gets used loads, and we put absolutely anything/everything in it with no issues.

Complete world away from the old things burning through power, turning your mnoney into hot air and pumping it out through a wobbly plastic hose poked through a window. And ruining all your clothes at the same time.

We've stpped using the dryer for all but emergencies. Clothes horse and a dehumidifier will do about 3 wash loads at once

To be fair, condensers are the worse of all tumble dryers IIRC. Even an old fashioned vented one was more efficient.

No I was looking at taking utility room door off and cursing as landlord I hadn't found someone to unpack and install...Tenant says "no problem" lifts it up backs through door and places on top of washer...apparently 50kg is way below what you lift and hold if you are a professional dancer in a big stage show...puts in perspective

Impressed. I used to happily benchpress 100kg, still doing tens of reps with 30kg’s worth of dumbbells but the shape, hand holds etc just made the dryer really bad.
The vertical lift was ok, but manoeuvring it into the alcove.

Let’s just say it’s staying there.

We have a Bosch, as above it's slower but much better for the clothes. It's particularly cost effective in combination with solar PV, as the electricity use is low enough that it will often run off what we would have otherwise exported.

The only fault has been the microswitch that tells it when the door's shut. Inexpensive part but hard work getting access to it.

You need to remember to regularly clean all of the lint filters to keep it efficient
