I need a set for an impending camping trip and (as my car is a Black Edition) I am worried that cheap bars might scratch the finish off the black colour-coded roof rails.

But I don't want to spend £225 on a set of Audi ones!

Yes I have.
I have thule ones. I bought the kit change from my previous vehicle to the new one. Used them a bit and had absolutely no issues (or scratches).

The standard thule ones just touch using rubber. Almost certainly same as audi ones.

Mine are silver, but I don't think that matters. I was just concerned about the ability to grip the bars even though it can't reach right around (because they are flush).

Yeah it is the black thing that worries me - I have no idea how robust the finish is, but I *assume* they will have considered roof bars when they designed them wouldn't they....

Wouldn't they?

Yeah that's who I have been looking at, just don't want to get something that knacks my car...

I'm using Thule wing bars on flush Audi roof rails, and while the rails are silver and not black, all the contact points are covered in soft rubber so would be very surprised if they make any marks at all.

A friend has a black edition A4 with black rails and the same bars and he's never had any problems as far as I know.
