Description below - it is something that I would find interesting but at £18 the cost seems a bit high. Has anyone been to ones of his talks and what did you think of it? Basically I need to be persuaded to pay what I consider to be a high charge. If it was £12 I would be there!
"Mark has spent the last decade taking on world records and world firsts in ultra-endurance. Best known as a cyclist, he circumnavigated the globe, taking a staggering 82 days off the previous time, pedalled the length of the Americas and recently smashed the Cairo to Cape Town record.
Africa Solo is a story of extreme endurance, through deserts, across mountains and vast savannah. But most of all it is a story about people - his team back in the UK and the incredible people of Africa, who made this journey possible. It is a tough, sobering but heart-warming account of a continent that is often portrayed for the wrong reasons. And Mark's unwavering ambition to find his personal best, to push his limits and set down unbreakable World Records.
Off the bike, Mark has filmed numerous BBC documentaries, presented for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and written two best-selling books."
My old man watched him in Buxton last week. He was thoroughly impressed and has seen quite a few lectures/talks from adventurers. I'm kicking myself I didn't go.
Used to meet him when out walking the dog and he was walking his. Mostly talked about dogs and squirrels (there were red where walked the dogs). very nice chap.
Saw the start of the tour in high Wycombe last sunday, was interesting and amusing talk/video, first half was more about his earlier adventures so if you've seen all his telly stuff or earlier tours you might feel slightly short changed but if not we'll worth the money IMHO 🙂
I'd pay that to go and listen to him - there aren't many people that I respect and look up to, but he is certainly one of them.
Been to see him a while back, it was only £5 IIRC - very personable guy and engaging, easy delivery. He'd also did presentations and stuff with local schools on that day, which was admirable..
I'm struggling to get a ticket fir his talk in Birnam on Friday. I'm on the cancellation list and keeping my fingers crossed.
I've my ticket booked for telford at the end of the month. My old boss saw one of his talks at a meeting and said he was very good.
I really enjoyed his books so I'd say its worth a trip up the road for an evening rather than vegetating in front of the laptop or tv!
