Going on one next week and was looking for any tips, advice. Should probably have asked before I booked it...
Which one you doing?
Not personally but I know people who have taken part and also worked in the kitchen to keep the volunteers fuelled (St Kilda). Enjoyed it enough to go back...
Its based near Betws y Coed Houns on working on two NT estates in that area, messing about with trees.
Cool, you’ll have a great time
Yup. Did a week on Lundy Island many years ago. The 'work' was mostly cutting down or ripping up and burning a large area of invasive rhododendron bushes on the east side of the island, but we also got some drystone walling done. Couple of afternoons off - walked around the island, watched the birds & seals, climbed the Devil's Slide, watched the sunsets, heard Concorde go supersonic about 11am every day on its way to New York (that gives you a clue about how long ago it was). We stayed in a converted barn near the south end of the island and walked up to the north-east coast & back twice a day.
You will, as suggested above, have a grand time.
Sounds great, enjoy. Tips? - take Smidge or similar to spray your ankles if you're working in woodland this time of year.
I did around 20 weeks back in the 90s, did all sorts of things including meeting my wife. My advice, muck in, work hard, don't expect everything to revolve around you. Things may have changed a bit in the last 25 years, hopefully the accommodation has improved.
