Off to Sicily in a months time, we're going to do some climbing up in the San Vito area (north west corner). Assumed I'd be able to find some scrambling / hiking as well, but there doesn't seem to be any guide books (or even topographic maps!) that covers sicily.

Anyone done anything out there? Ideally Want a nice mountain with a grade 1-3 scramble to the top, or a nice ridge line to do.

Mate was out there last year and did Etna - sounded very hot, sulphurous and potential for volcanic eruptions.

This one looks kind of promising: https://www.summitpost.org/rocca-busambra/198584

I'll ask my mate if he know anything more, but I'm thinking probably not tbh.

Hiked up Etna with gf at the time. Awesome place. One of the few places I'd go back again and again.

Thanks! The Rocca Busambra, I've just came across whilst zooming about on google earth looking for likely options. Seems like there is another outcrop at the end of the main ridge that might also be fun. Wrong side of the island for Etna - probably covered in snow at the top as well.

Spent Christmas Day walking through the Capo San Vito Park with the GF a few years back.

Although we ended up with a stray dog accompanying us the whole way.

Even in December or was still warm enough to have a dunk in the sea.

Didn't go up very high to the peaks. Along through the hills and then back along the coast.
