Think im more excited than my lad.
Hes off to aberystwyth university in 4 weeks and cant wait , he ll be studing media and graphics ...
anyone else ?
added bonus is he isnt too far from nant-y-arian, so ill be visiting him regular with the bikes... just for a father and son day out 😀
Good luck to him plenty of jobs appear available in graphics, media on the other hand!! Tell him to make sure he knows adobe suite before he finishes.
Hopefully the job situation will be better for him in 3 years than it is right now. I've applied for countless "media" type jobs (post production) and only had 3 interviews so far, there are just too many people applying for them at the minute.
i would encourage him to try and do some private contracts in his hols, that way earn some money, maybe lay the foundations for self employment afterwards, and most of all, avoid the despair that is data entry to earn much needed cash - i talk from experience on that one.
my old man used to come up with the golf clubs once in a while when i was at uni, always good to get out and have the day paid for.
He will be too busy shagging/drinking to do any work 😉
Do parents see it as a win when their kids get into uni (not just proud parents but the fact you finally get rid of them?)
I always saw me going to uni as a blessing for my father, and I'm pretty sure he did as well 😉

I would say this is the key thing at uni. If you can get some relevant work during summer holidays, you've got a HUGE advantage over everyone else when you're trying to get a proper job.
Daughter #1 is off to Southampton University at the end of the month. I'm bricking it. (When you have a son you worry about one prick, when you have a daughter you worry about all of them)...

Daughter #1 starting year 3 Bristol (Teaching), but she's decided to commute this year, so we'll have the "pleasure" of her company much more, daughter #2 starting year 2 Plymouth (Nursing), if last year's anything to go by we get to pay for her accomodation in Plymouth while she has placements for half the year home here in Taunton. 👿
