Managed to get to the point where I only smoked when having a beer but 20'pints a day was getting expensive (chortle)
This time I'm pretty confident I can kick it up the arse goodbye, using the Alan Carr book method, no not the chatty man fella , so no patches or electronic bongs and so far all good.
Anyone else looking forward to being quicker on their bike, not feeling like a fool when walking back in the pub stinking like hell of fags and being in the good books with missus ?
congratulations on becoming a non-smoker. i used the book too.
all you have to do is stay on the wagon. it's a lot easier than you think.
well done! 8)
Quitting smoking is easy I've done it hundreds of times...
In all seriousness though every now and again I buy a pack which usually leads to a few more before I realise and stop myself which works for a few weeks/months then I do it again. Never long term but still got to break the pointless cycle and realise there is no point and to stop wasting money/healthy lungs
Congratulations!
You've done the proactive bit now, it's just a case of forgetting about it and getting on with your life as a non smoker 😀
Good luck with it! Sounds like you're in the right place. The point where you've just had enough of it.
I packed in after a similar thread on here and I've not had a cig for 3 years now, and I just know I'll never smoke again 😀

Sorry to report that the turn of speed never materialised.
not feeling like a fool when walking back in the pub stinking like hell of fags and being in the good books with missus
I appear to be hyper-sensitive to this now. With my new-found born-again non-smokers hat on I know find this absolutely minging!!!
YOU CAN DO IT!
I gave up almost 6 years ago to the day and it was the best thing I've ever done. I NEVER miss it (though I don't mind if someone walks past me smoking a rolly every now and again :D).
I read the Allen Carr book - if you're ready to give up, it works.
Best of luck!
Cardo..good luck it's the best thing you can do in terms of your health ..14 years for me now ..my motivation as an older dad was to see my son grow up ..I had my last one on the day he was christened.
As for being quicker on your bike ..the 2stone in weight gain might put paid to that 😆
Thanks for the positive words , much appreciated. Thrown away all the gumpf such as the millions of Rizla papers and filters that had found there way into various corners of all my bags and pockets.. Went for a few beers yesterday which was the first test and didn't end up chatting up strangers to ponce a roly. Now where's the cake? 😉

Quitting isn’t a magic bullet to getting fit imo, it’s just the base point.
Thing with smoking was that because I was poisoning myself, I never really had that much motivation to train hard and look after myself properly. After packing it up last spring I’ve thrown myself into training and riding. Could probably have done it when I was smoking but couldn’t be arsed. Seemed a bit pointless. Now...
