Waiting on behalf of my lass, who is still lazing around in bed. Only 90300 or so in front of me. Good times!

Looking at the rate of progress, will cars even still exist by the time I get to the front?

20 minutes in, dipped under 90000 now. By Sunday afternoon things will be getting exciting around here. I wonder how many test centre slots will be left?

Going a bit faster now, folks must be getting pissed off and leaving the queue. My lad has just logged on a bit late, and been rewarded with a 144,000 queue. 🙂

At least you have a driving license (I assume). We are on week 8 of waiting for an update on the DVLA site for his provisional license and they don't seem keen to communicate in any way......

I am not sure of the process but my boy had his test cancelled 3 times due to covid. He finally had his test 2 weeks ago and failed (Gutted). He thought it would be months for another. I was amazed to find his instructor got straight onto it and he has his second test on Thursday (Fingers crossed)

Currently at 60,515! Started at 8.15 at 72,312, its now just past midday!
Back of the queue (on another browser) is 213,632!
Worryingly the link to where centres have availability shows many centres fully booked

Daughter has been trying this morning but gave up at around midday, she said there weren't any tests left at Steeton.

What's the situation at Skipton? I imagine the same, which would kinda ruin the suspense but save me leaving my computer on for days at a time.

I found the link, says 'limited availability' at Skipton, so probably none by the we get to the front. Plenty at Barrow in Furness though...how far are you prepared to travel?

Started at 75000 at 8.15 this morning. Now at 29,000 at 15.40. Apparently still 7,000 slots available across the country. How very exciting it all is.

Now sub 20k, all of the local and not too far centres, Reading, High Wycombe, Farnborough, Slough are all showing limited availability.....I suspect that once I get to the front of the queue there will be nothing left wihin an hours drive! Where are the 7,000 ...oh must be in Aberystwyth!

Five o’clock shift change

And were back in at 81000! Safe to say I'm not feeling ultra-optimistic about getting anywhere...

Me thinks there is a pre-queue....
Opened the browswer at 0745 and just left it and it went straight into the queue at 22,000 when it ticked over to 0800. Its now down to 15,840 so about 6000 an hour based on the current run rate. If I am lucky at about 11AM when I am supposed to be leading a Webex to the whole company!

Me thinks there is a pre-queue….

I tried at 7.30, then again at 7.50, so clearly I should have been spamming the f5 button long before that.

If I am lucky at about 11AM when I am supposed to be leading a Webex to the whole company!

They'll understand.

Well that was predictably crap! Got to the front of the queue! No tests in anywhere under 90 minutes drive from here! Will try the deja vu show on Monday when more will be released!
Frustrated, not for me, but for my daughter just about to do her second year 'A' levels whose year has quite frankly been crap!

90 minutes drive? Luxury!

We've just booked a test in sunny Barrow in Furness! Literally all they had available.

As long as the reason for availability is geographical, rather than something else 🙂

I see they shut up shop and went to the pub at 2pm today despite tests still showing as available at our local centres. Utter shambles.

And back on again this morning for my lad (the joy of twins). Into the 'pre-queue' at 7.10am, 12000 in the main queue, now 4500. I reckon you get randomised into the main queue at eight, so there is no advantage in joining earlier.

I think they do, got my daughter up at 745 so we could try with several devices. We got 72k, 44k, 32k and 9k.

Now at 1700 in the queue.

Several devices seems to be the charm for gaming the system. Just keep the one that gets the best placement.

OMFG!! The stress of waiting to hear the result of mini-muffin's driving test - worse than when my wife gave birth! 😱😱

Anyway - SHE PASSED!! 1st time with 4 minors.

Very, very happy for her - but also a bit sad that dad-taxi duty is at an end.

Congratulations - when will she be driving you to and from the pub then?

Jnr has a test booked for 14th Jan - assuming we aren't in lockdown....

Congrats. My lass got through as well, and is not expecting to go back to Barrow in Furness any time soon...

My lad has his on Monday, not sure I'm quite as confident for this one. 🙂

the-muffin-man

Very, very happy for her – but also a bit sad that dad-taxi duty is at an end.

I was the opposite when my youngest son passed a few weeks ago because for the first time in 20 years I am no longer the taxi service - happy days!!

Congrats to your daughter, it is a massive relief with all of the hassles of booking tests at the moment.

Nice one - pass on my congratulations Simon! 🙂

My wife has barely seen her car since my daughter passed last Friday! All being well we pick up my daughters 1st car tomorrow. Ten year old Fiesta, and insurance is £1150 fully comp and no black-box which is lower than I expected.

Well - she's got her first crash under her belt this morning!! 🙂

Pulling out in the wife's car from the side of the road - didn't spot a car coming behind her due to low morning sun. And got hit in the drivers side front wheel which then pushed her into the parked car in front of her.

So she's managed to do both sides of the wife's car and two other cars - not a bad start! 😬😬

Good to see she’s learned the official defences already!
