Logged in to my paypal account recently and it came up with the following message:
'We are currently performing regular maintenance of our security measures. Your account has been randomly selected for this maintenance, and you will now be taken through a series of identity verification pages.
Protecting the security of your PayPal account is our primary concern, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.'
'Identity verification' being typing in all of my bank details again. This is on the main paypal page, not whilst I was buying anything btw.
I just don't want to be one of those people who happily type details in and then get stung - but I can't use paypal if I dont! 🙁
Has anyone seen this messsage before? Is it normal?
Cheers
Sounds like a scam to me! Check the address very carefully. Close the window, open another and start a new session in paypal and see what it says then.
yes ive had that before and alls still well with my account, but just log off and try and log in again as above
Looks dodgy to me.
Did you type in www.paypal.co.uk yourself? Check the little padlock symbol on your browser. If concerned, click on it.
If it says https:// instead of http, and you click on the padlock you should see certificate info. If it's all above board you should see paypal's info in there.
I'd be very sceptical though - why would they want to verify you by having you type in account details? Doesn't make much sense.
Hang fire. It might be worth calling Paypal or sending them an email first.
Oh.. Mrs Grips said she had it ages ago and it checked out, apparently.
