We put up an 8ft real Christmas Tree yesterday and I had crawled underneath it to fill up the water reservoir in the base. Whilst there I thought I’d check to see if the “lock” on the ratchet that clamps the tree in place was on.

Push down to lock. Push up to release.

I pushed up

Thought it a good idea to get some kindling chopped up with an axe after some beers on Friday. It was a very blunt axe but sliced into my finger with surprising ease...

I spent far too long trying to find out what screws I had been erroneously sold in order to resell them only to discover they’re so specialist I’ll probably never find anyone to sell them to.

So just what are these specialist screws then?

Salop Sludger,, approx 40 odd miles of mud, wind, rain and sun. Not as grim as some years but still amazing soup at the finish in Shrewsbury and a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

I think you'll find that many people might pay willingly for a specialist screw.

Depending how you advertise, you may well end up with a great story for "particularly stupid things I did this weekend" 😁

Had a stand-up row with a neighbour in the street. He was looking for an argument and I snapped and gave him what he wanted. I did a lot of shouting, constructed my argument *very* badly, and reduced myself to hurling abuse at him. Not my finest hour.

Nine hours marshalling /taking down cyclocross in the pouring rain yesterday was seeming pretty stupid as I was collecting stakes in the gloaming.

Swapped the winters on to Missusalz's new car. Found that two hub threads are shagged, wondered if something was up when I found two loose wheel nuts and then found out for sure when I got the wheel off. So not stupid on my part, but someone's been stupid somewhere.

Replaced the shifter/brake lever on my gravel bike. Pig of a job. Stripped two brand new bolts doing it, fortunately I could replace with the ones from the old unit.

Wanted to try out a new sheeptrack short cut to a circular ride from the farm, that we have been sanitising. Went out to do it in the dark on Saturday evening in that yellow wind warning. To get there involves riding along the top of an exposed ridge at 2000 ft for about 2 miles. Thankfully with an Ebike, forwards momentum was possible but we had to tack along with the bikes leaning at about 45 degress to the track. At one point my sheep dog lost her rear footing and I was treated to the sight of a dog holding on to the floor with its front claws. Quite amusing (no real harm could have come to her). The new trail was great BTW, if a little muddy given conditions.

Came down with the lurgy on Friday and spent the weekend shivering under a duvet.

Doesn’t normally register on the stupid scale, but we’ve got a tiler coming tomorrow and the weekend was supposed to be spent stripping out the bathroom and de-tiling the walls

Took twice as many 4mg Tizanidine as I should have, 8 (32mg) instead of 4 (16mg) for my spms muscle spasms/muscle tightness before bed, certainly knocked me out but also left me practically unable to move at all

After deciding that, after losing our much loved 14 year old rescue dog René in October, we would replace him with another older dog as they're just (generally) calmer and we couldn't be arsed with the palaver, bounciness and toilet training of a puppy.

So, obviously, on Saturday we picked up a six month old, not toilet trained yet, jack russell/springer cross...

I had a fight with my old BC dog late last night when tired.  She is very old BC half blind, deaf, and a pacemaker, ohh and arthritis plus slightly incontinent...  she was weeing everywhere in the house but it was raining so she didnt want to go out.  She made a run to go upstairs and I grabbed her and got my hand mauled by slightly worn out teeth.  Bitch!!

Spent an hour putting outdoor Christmas lights up just before the huge storm that I knew was coming. Three hours later they were ripped apart and broken.

Done some trailbuilding which wasn't too bad, but then decided to go and ride a new trail.

I think the heavy rain started just as I entered the trees, as it suddenly got a lot darker. I struggled to see where I was going, had to walk one rock garden as all I could make out were a few random rocks sticking out the darkness, and the trail had turned into a stream by the bottom, then I had to ride a couple miles back to the van in the rain.

On the plus side, it was wet enough to be fairly mud free with plenty grip.

Apparently this shouldn't be here.
Pulled the handle off a garage door that was sticking and then fell backwards over something in the middle of the floor.... put my hand out.

In a splint at the moment but I'm expecting a call from the fracture clinic confirming the fracture and then go in for a cast.

🙁

Stood in the kitchen recycling bin to squash it down to make room for another week. Bin slid from underneath me and I've put a dent in the freezer door with my knee.

A mate contacted me earlier t’night in a helluva panic, she ordered 4 stussy t shirts a couple of weeks ago for her 15yr old sons Xmas and they arrived this morning, they’re obviously counterfeit. The website she ordered from is Primestreetwear so I did a bit of digging and found the website is a GoDaddy domain, further digging found the Chinese address of the company so no hope of getting a refund and she only has a bank debit card linked to her Apple Pay which was used for purchase and does not offer any buyer protection.

Bugger, I’ve reported the website to the uk fraud site and EU site as well as contacting stussy head office in California but I doubt anything will come of it.

Yes.

Drove into work and was immediately told to **** off home as no one else wants The Lurgy over Christmas.

Ignored them, locked myself in an empty office and caught up on online compulsory training and deleted 500 emails inviting me on self congratulatory online ****fests run by overpaid ****s who haven't seen a patient since Florence was a lass.

We have a ward cat, who makes people very happy.
Someone has complained.
I have, very politely, told them to go and **** themselves.
This isn’t going to end well, but should be amusing.

4 day weekend for me (well, 3 and a half, finished at lunchtime on friday).
5 dates with 4 women.
And a 6th date tonight.

I'm going to need to up my intake of super-mega-ultra vitamins.

Think that counts as epically badly planned, rather than stupid.

Only the normal really. Riding in the sloppy mud and rain after all the wind and rain of Saturday evening and expecting it to be somehow not a total ball ache when I got back home?

I must've spent just as long cleaning bike and kit as I did riding.

However, it was all worth it on my ride to work today, where it rode and shifted like a new bike. 🙂

Some thing came up and I needed a days leave. Not the days between Christmas and New Year. My leave request was declined for a totally unreasonable reason. We have a team of 12, 2 are on leave and they state we need the cover over the period, bearing in mind this is during school holidays.  Minimum staffing level is 7.
I have decided to challenge this just for the sake of it and because we have a management team that couldn't find their arses with both hands. They have a leave ban from the 18th December to 12 January. Leave had to be in by October. WTF. What if something unforeseen comes up as it did for me?

I may not be working here for much longer 🙂

Can't throw a sickie now as I have made too much of a fuss about it.
