Continuing my longstanding 'anything but a traditional turkey roast dinner' ethos, this year has a southern US theme...
Starter. Seafood boil with spiced butter
Main. 'KFT' bronze turkey burger. Spicy turkey popcorn. Sprout and red cabbage slaw. Root vegetable fries (potato, parsnip, beetroot). Cornbread. Cranberry ketchup. Fried chicken gravy.
Dessert. Baked Key Lime cheesecake with lime jelly glaze. Vanilla ice cream.
What you got?

We’re going to the sister in-law’s where we’ll be fed something vaguely resembling a traditional dinner but with packet meat and pre-prepared oven ready everything else. I wish we were doing the cooking…

Mostly Cheese as my girlfriend is working Christmas day. So I'm at her house with a fridge full and I mean full of cheese.
No alcohol though till I pick her up at 6pm then the port can come out.
We might have our roast duck christmas dinner on boxing day but that very much depends on how we feel #Christmas at our own pace.

Cool. Did the 70s theme a few years back.
Prawn cocktail. Steak and chips. (deconstructed) Black forest gateau.
This was, however, the Christmas dinner that shall not be mentioned ever again...
For the main I did Heston's triple cooked chips. Effectively take 3 days to prep. Got to Christmas day and time for the final flash fry for the chips. FIL who used to run a chippy thought he'd help as he 'knows chips'. Instead of crisping the chips up at 180 degrees he dumped them into old oil at 150 degrees. Rather than super crispy delights we just got fat soggy chip shop chips. I was somewhat miffed to say the least but in the interests of family harmony I bit my tongue. He's not been near me in the Christmas kitchen since though so someone obviously told him how I felt!
@MrOvershoot we’ve had Christmases where one or both of us had been working so we’ve had the rest of the day with just the 2 of us, and I love it. Suit ourselves, eat as much or as little as we like, it’s perfect. Enjoy!

Toad In The Hole this year, with the sausages wrapped in bacon. That's just for me as we're not doing a family Christmas this year, mum is having a few snacks like Scotch Eggs and sausage rolls while my sister is doing her own thing with her young family. I'll be keeping mum company on the day but no-one tell my uncle otherwise he'll call in and expect a full traditional dinner just for himself (he's a selfish, ignorant, racist ****).

I’ve spent some of the day buying and prepping food to microwave in my van. I’ve got a stove too, but microwaving is easier.
Bean chilli to go in breakfast burritos with scrambled eggs, rice or hash browns and guacamole
Picnic for out on the bike (mostly pork pies tbh)
Dhal, paneer curry, veg samosas and chapatti for dinner
Also have prawn cocktail and smoked salmon mousse things for Christmas Eve. And Buck’s Fizz!

however it's basically a precursor to the main event which is Boxing Day 'fry up'. (Bubble and squeak).

I had hoped and suggested we get a takeaway curry for a change. Rather than cooking for half the day for most of it to not be eaten and then washing up for the rest of the day. Thought this was a spiffing idea personally.
So we're cooking a roast instead 🙄
That sounds amazing op! I've gone all out doing all the cooking myself in the past including last year and found that sometimes I'm so over tired I've lost my appetite and there's way too much food that it's overwhelming so this year we decided on a communal bring a dish style meal. I did a rough menu and people chose what course they wanted to do. I've made a miso, orange, mustard and honey glazed ham and some cranberry, orange and port sauce. The other half is doing roasties and sprouts with chestnuts we foraged in the autumn. Mum and partner are doing starters and puddings and aunt is bringing a Riverford organic chicken and pigs in blankets.
We're having our family meal today and then tomorrow is a total chill out with a friend coming round for leftovers, nibbles, boozing with log burner and TV. Should be a good one!
Traditional Christmas lunch of beans on toast with cheese following our traditional Christmas bike ride.
Sprouts with pancetta bacon stuff, onions and cream - adding mushrooms this year (fry onions and lardons slowly whilst sprouts boil, drain and chop sprouts then add to frying pan and mix in, then add cream and allow to just start to bubble). Pigs in blankets and some lamb. I think the others are on full roasts but I hate turkey.
I'll then do the dishes as it means I miss the speech.
Wife is working so it’s going to be fish fingers, chips and beans for me since I wanted something that was completely different to a Christmas dinner.
We are off to her parents later today and I understand we are having slow cooked short rib.

There’s a lot of beef on this thread - and here too.
Christmas Day is a traditional for me in the sense there’s always beef, watercress and most importantly tartiflette - with a couple of other variables.

We’re having salmon en croute as the wife doesn’t eat meat. Rest of the plate should be pretty traditional though (sprouts already purchased).
The in-laws are doing the starter as per usual, therefore a coupe of lettuce leaves with some prawn cocktail out a plastic tub 🙄
For the main we’ve got a full leg of lamb from the farm a mile up the road, with parsnip purée, pigs in blankets (obviously), Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and some assorted veg.

All washed down with some fine wines. <br />
Sprouts
I'll be doing something with sprouts too.

You first wash them in cold water.
Next peel off the outer leaves. The outer leaves are very bitter.
Followed by cutting a cross into the bottom of each - *This is important.
Then scrape the entire lot into the bin.
Last year I threatened to revolt and we got a 4 bird roast, lamb and a turkey crown. Lovely and moist.
This year MIL has bought this usual half-horse sized turkey so back to the usual dried out tasteless waste of money 😕
Steak this year, did a "festive" pizza last year.
Indian vegetarian spread.
No alcohol.

If that don't happen... Don't really care that much. I don't want to be stuck in the kitchen or expect someone else to be either.

it does mean we will have a nice relaxed Christmas Day, almost like its Boxing Day.
Steaks this year although not totally through choice as the oven broke last week and we couldn't get it fixed in time. Have a nice turkey crown in the freezer for next week and 2nd Xmas.
I do like the sound of that Southern US style one though.

Only 2 of us so looking forward to leftovers for a few days. I can almost picture gnocchi, beef strips in a peppery mushroom sauce.
Trying to have lots of sensible food for the rest of my week off to offset the extravagance although today's dinner is veggie strudel so not that healthy
Christmas lunch for 14. I refuse to do turkey so it’s porchetta stuffed with all sorts of goodies instead.
Anyone else considered a heathen for doing Yorkshires with Christmas lunch?
There's rib of beef with marmite roasties and other trimmings planned for the omnivores, the veggie/vegans are on a fancy nut roast which needs doing today along with the red cabbage..

If I was in charge of OAB towers, I would do things differently.
Seeing as I'm not, I don't get a choice but turkey and veggies.
My family have always done Goose ever since I've been alive. It's light years ahead of turkey.

None of that exotic tastyness or seasoning.
I'm guessing it's boil the crap out of everything except the turkey.. with add your own unique flavour with either salt or pepper at the table.
Carrots, potatoes, sprouts, turnip and swede mash, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and peas cooked in a jus of boiled water.
Volume and choice versus flavour 😜.
Rolled leg of lamb stuffed with a herb stuffing and black pudding plus the usual array of veg.
This year though it will be eaten today (Christmas Eve). That's so I don't drink my weight in booze on Christmas Day as the forecast for Boxing Day looks good for a ride amid gloom and rain for the rest of the year.

Turns out a nearby Turkish restaurant is open Xmas day. So takeaway! and we will be eating falafel like Mary and Joseph probably did! Yum yum.
Essentially a normal Christmas dinner but with pheasant. No one is fussed about turkey and pheasant is £6 a bird at the local farm shop. Cooks in 30 minutes too.
Got back home yesterday afternoon from a fortnight in the Carribean, thinking we could just pop up to the supermarket after a quick Kip.
Realised around 5pm it was Sunday, so Tesco Metro it was.
So it’s Tomato soup starter ,
microwave Chicken Tikka and rice mains
Individual strawberry trifles for afters

Off to some restaurant here in Italy with friends.
Free range chicken for us with the usual trimmings.
I made four curries yesterday for a Christmas Eve get together with some mates. There is loads left over and the kids who have just got up have decided they just want leftovers instead of the fore rib I had planned to cook.
I should have stayed out for a longer bike ride, might get out again later?
Starter is a three fish mousse. A mix of cod, prawns, double cream and cream cheese blended with a bit of gelatin so it will set. Then stuck in a ring mould lined with slices of smoked salmon. Done the previous day to set overnight then sliced and served.
Main course venison stew. Easy to make and not time critical.
Then cheeses and crackers or oatcakes.
Sadly no alcohol content as I'm nightshift . These presents await.

Just polished off beans (Heinz of course) on 4 slices of thick brown toast. Washed down with a coffee. Lunch with the parents and family tomorrow at a pub.
Parsnips roasted with lots of black pepper were remarkably tasty given how simple it is.
coquilles st jacques, followed by chateaubriand and chips with banoffi pie for pud.
Mrs 100th is working tomorrow and.some dick is bound to have done something which means they'll be enjoying free bnb.

Totally agree. Only 2 of us this year, so couldn't be arsed. This is the Xmas dinner for me and my son from local Nepaleseish

Wasn't that blown away.
Tartare is, imo, an aquired taste.
Pasta was good.
Gnocchi were cheesy AF,and I don't really do cheese.
Leg of pork was good, but a few more spuds wouldn't have gone a miss.
Being a vegetarian the GF struggled with the menu.
Wine was good.
We've had family around for a few days this year.
Saturday, steak (sirloin from the local butcher) and triple cooked chips.
Christmas Eve - lobster and scallop linguine for 8
Today, turkey (for the first time in 15 years), spuds(roasted in the fat rendered down from round the sirloins) roast carrots, roast parsnips with parmesan. Bread sauce. Splendid gravy. Some dullards had some green crap on their plates, but hey, it's Christmas. 13 of us tucked in.
Tonight it's Christmas supper with more family joining in. Cold meat, cheese home made pickles.
I was cooking with some early 2000's Tarifa beats blasting out plus Champagne getting replaced in the wine bucket, so had a steady stream of company while grandkids were crayoning on the living room carpet.
Tomorrow I've got a big piece of belly pork that I'm thinking of doing Chinese style.
Oh, and making sure I don't miss my blood pressure tablets and statins.
We asked the kids what they wanted:
- Smoked salmon and scamble eggs
- Avocado and mozzarella
- Mussels
- Roast lamb with triple Yorkshires
I'm stuffed. I spent all of Saturday cooking curry for the outlaws who are arriving in the morning...

Caviar, beef fillet and Fortnum and Masons’s small Christmas pudding. Washed down with Puille Fume, St Emilion and a Madeira for pudding.
Of course there were pigs in blankets, stuffing and Yorkshire puddings. Son 2 had a nut road of sort, consisting of a Paxo base, olive oil and pesto. Apparently it was excellent, although I’ll bet the beef was better.
The dog had pork stuffing as a treat. Have to spoil them at Christmas.

Did a beef wellington. Tasted great but also tinged with the memory that this was the fillet I’d meant to use to make beef wellington for my mum before she died unexpectedly last year.
So far it's been scrambled egg and smoked salmon, along with a nice bottle of Chablis for breakfast, then some chicken goujons with a couple of mojitos in the afternoon. I'll soon be cooking some smash cheese burgers for tea. I'm undecided on a nice bottle of red to go with it but there'll definitely be a banana cocktail at my wife's request beforehand. We'll have a proper roast tomorrow but I much prefer a low effort Christmas day.
We don’t like turkey and also not keen on spending all day cooking. Pre prepared lamb roast and spuds with a few veg. Loads of time hanging out with the kids and my mum and everyone got something they liked. Have had some really enjoyable ‘all the trimmings’ meals in the past but wouldn’t change today for anything.

I did a couple of mushroom wellingtons for most people. The kids had roast shoulder of lamb with loads of garlic and rosemary. Homemade gravy, pigs in blankets for the kids again. Usual veg, yes including sprouts.
Mum and dad did red cabbage and bread sauce.
Christmas cake or chocolate log for pudding.
Oh and youngest had spag bol.
Did loads of prep yesterday so only spent about 3 hours cooking today, which I really enjoyed.
