Never had much success in getting the ideal light mist effect preferable for ACF50 application .I've heated it in the past to make it less viscous as well as brushing etc and yes...I know the best way is to use a compressor but I don't have one . I was wondering about diluting it with something like isopropyl alcohol or brake fluid that should evaporate away fairly quickly after being sprayed with a hand held plant mister. Your thoughts and experiences much appreciated..cheers
Bill.
No idea. But not brake fluid!
XCP Rust Blocker is possibly better
I meant to say brake cleaner BTW ! re the XCP ..I've seen tests with very different results . Somecsay it's great ..others say it's not very effective. I do know from experience that ACF 50 works well.
I've diluted WD40 for the maid's annual....
Ok..I gave it a go yesterday...50/50 ACF50 to Isopropyl alcohol and it certainly mixed well and sprayed more easily .I think an even higher IPA % would be better and allow a finer spray perhaps approaching the result I'm hoping for.Today everything I sprayed seem to have a good thin layer and I presume the IPA has dissipated.
I was thinking maybe paraffin- works well in an oil mix for chain lubing and the like. Never done it though, I have a compressor so I just mist it on with a paraffin gun, lovely.
