Looking at booking a holiday there, the pictures look beautiful and relatively unspoiled, wandering if the reality lives up to that, or if that means the facilities not up to scratch?
Yes. Been all over the Philippines when I lived in the Far East. Areas can be very basic and it's generally a bit lawless, bit Wild West. The people, generally are OK but not when mixed with Tanduay. It can get a bit dodgy when the rhum comes out. Pretty beaches and diving ace with f that's your thing but they do get every typhoon, earthquake, tsunami and natural disaster that's going.
Are you travelling solo or en Famile and where specifically are you going?
The current plan is to go solo to El Nido on Palawan, do and open water padi dive course and also do some sea kayaking etc spend 11 nights there with a short stay over in Manila at either end, although I don't expect to do much in Manila.
You'll have a great time in that case. Watch the dive safety a bit though. If it's run by locals it can be a bit flakey. The rest of it would be ace.
