The Bones Brigade
I have, it was a brilliant place.
Not what I expected of the Caribbean at all.
Sure, great beaches, jungle interior, Fish and Rice for food, but very little in the way of hotels and tourist tat. Real local feel, we only saw one hotel on the beach. Felt very welcome and without trying we never saw much in the way of international tourist crap. One side of the island was quite different to the other. Hire a cheap car and just go exploring - bloody great place. Good diving too.

I've no idea! I think Trimix has answered it mostly. Sounds like It's a safe place, we couldn't be doing with anywhere where you need to stay in a complex or only do organised/guided tours. The mrs is a bit wary like that.
