One of my daughters has expressed an interwst in going and camping at Le Mans for the 24hr world endurance motorcycling race.

Has anyone been by motorcycle and camped? Its not really very clear from the website what is included/extra/camping etc

If anyone has any experience then any advice is gratefully received.

Thanks

Ian

Utter, anarchic mayhem in my very long ago experience. The French are very good at that. The Bol, fwiw, was always better thanks to the location climate and smells. Unless things have changed a lot, it'll be basic and full of very drunk French motorcyclists revving the nuts off their mostly unsilenced bikes in the small hours of the morning. Sorry, I can't really help beyond that, but it brought back some excellent memories.

Haven't been for a very long time but went several times in the 70s and 80s. Utter mayhem. Probably a lot more civilised these days.

Went a few years ago and probably still hungover from it. As has been said lots of motorbikes getting bounced off the redline all night long along with copious amounts of drink. Was great to go see but Bol is definitely better to go to.

I went in the 80’s. As everyone says. Bonkers! My abiding memory is seeing the headlight beams of punters, outside the track, shining into the sky as people wheelied along the public road. I saw a gendarme directing traffic hastily stopping some cars so that a bloke could wheelie his bike across a junction on the wrong side of the road. Great fun.

Paul Ricard circuut looks better and warmer, but its a fair distance and Amy is pretty time crunched. I suppose i could take my time getting down and collect her from the airport...

I shall consult her and report back!

Did the Bol d'Or a couple of times but never fancied LeMans, just from a climate pov. Absolutely fantastic memories, free Ricard all weekend, pizza, bikes everywhere, the road up from the Supermarche with a bike loaded with beer, riding around in shorts and no helmet while watching folk launching their bikes off the cliffs, welcoming a couple of riders to the camping area only for one to say "do you live in Roseburn?" (I did 😂)

Not been but was surprised to find myself driving along the Mulsanne straight in the camper van last summer
