Off there next week. Staying in the Morbihan region. Don't know whether to take my full sus or hardtail. Any help appreciated.
I have done loads of cycling in Brittany however none i would consider proper mountain biking. The local off road route maps tend to be very poorly signposted and lots of straight paths that connect bits of road together (nothing exciting – hardtail would be enough). Would be interested if there are any decent routes.
They do love their road bikes.
Had some fun in woods NW of Guemene sur Scorff, local VTT race setup the weekend we arrived in the cottage down the road so there were followable trails and easy access, but if we hadn't spotted that would have been none the wiser. Also huge woods around Paimpont for exploring. I take a semi-slicked hardtail and go exploring the roads then sneak in anywhere that looks interesting.

been a couple of times.
the area around pontivy is nice for xc type stuff.
mur de bretange is awesome for forest/woodsy single track.
