Someone told me today they had been an extra in one of the LOTR's movies (as an Eastern if that right term...) I was mightly impressed..
Anyone else?
Yep - lots (pretty much anything involving swords that was made in the 90's)... particularly those made in or set in, Scotland....
I'm in "Threads", just as the bomb hits. Somewhere in the panicking crowds, same time as that lady wees herself outside Woolworths.
I was an actor in one of the crime watch reconstructions. No movies though 🙁
No.
Been on The South Bank Show though.
And my motorbike helmet appeared in Coronation Street - on the bar of the Rovers no less.
Not me, just the lid.
It did not receive a fee.
My brother was in Casualty, Bristol is hardly Hollywood
My wife was an extra in Braveheart as they filmed it near where we live. She got a decent close up too!
I was in bbc super drama Rockface riding my bike, got a decent few seconds on screen too. My mate and I swapped gloves etc to see if the continuity lady would notice, oh to be young and stupid again!
Almost...... I build film sets and had to re-build a corner of a set for some pickups of scenes that needed little dialogue changes. So a tiny crew were assembled, set was built in the corner of a freezing warehouse on a snowy january morning. Guy from the cast dressed and made up to match something we'd originally shot a year previously. All good, had it in the can in no time.
Then it turns out the director feels that an incest scene we'd filmed in the main shoot didn't give the father 'enough reason to kill himself' and wanted to make the scene more explicit. Neither of the actors in the scene were present but the director decided his hands going up his girlfriends jumper would suffice. The editor cued up the scene on her laptop - the directors quite swathy hands were no match for the the actors scrawny ones and the director's girlfriend had a tattoo on her midriff which ruled her out too. In a flash my hands are elected as the incestuous gropers and the editors midriff is volunteered as the gropee. Before we've got a moment to digest this a make shift bed is fashioned and I spend the next half hour in it as the camera crew try and lash up an overhead rig for the shot and frame and focus on my groping hand. This is enough time for the editor to conclude that there isn't a way to cut the grope into the rhythm of the scene..... and that theres no way of gods green earth that anyones going to shove the frozen grubby hand up her jumper.
It'll also be on the cutting room floor somewhere but I once took a wrong turn on a sunny summer afternoon in Kent and drove a bright yellow ex-council transit van through the middle of an snowy 1994 Inspector Poirot Christmas Special

A good friend of mine was in The Monocled Mutineer when it was filmed at Nesscliffe army camp. I've been on telly.
I was in match of the day.
I played a ball boy.
Several - mostly with quite a small cast list 🙂
TV a few times.
My mate and I swapped gloves etc to see if the continuity lady would notice, oh to be young and stupid again!
Crazy days, crazy days.

Helmet double? 😉
I inadvertently walked into a set of V for Vendetta whilst lost in London so could be in that!
My ex boss was one of the kids in Indiana Jones temple of doom which thought was cool.
I was in an advert for the garage where I worked and I had to watch Police Academy 4 to see it.
Also in Home and Away on the beach.
I might be in Sunshine On Leith, in the crowd scenes, haven't seen it though. Oh and me and my bike are in the Irvine Welsh tv play Wedding Belles. Fame at last...
We were rejected for BAT 21.
I was too tall, mate was too well fed and the other was too short for GI.
😆
No, but my house was in Faintheart 😉
Was an Extra in Raising Waylon, as a grown up at a kids party, on screen for about 3 seconds, maybe more...
Did a couple of adverts too, all while being student in NZ, all part of getting a bit of extra cash.
(true story).I was asked to be the hand double for Michael Stuart (the longest serving drummer in Love I think) in "Love Story". Obvious scars on my right hand put an end to my nascent movie career. I did make tv in NI in the late 80's in a xmas ad for a large Belfast sporting equipment store (was it Leisureworld?, I can't remember), holding up a skateboard deck while hiding my other wrist in a cast, broken while skateboarding. And again on a London news program celebrating an anniversary of a well known record shop.
I did turn down an opportunity at the record store to be involved in a seriously unfunny skit with that wee dark haired Norn Irish fella who worked for some Channel Four music shows, or something (I'd given up on tv by 2001). He was such an arrogant bad mannered rude little shite none of us working there wanted to be involved so he had to get his fluffy mic holder behind the counter to pretend to be a record shop dude/loser.
When I was an English assistant in Spain I was in a bar with friends and a spectacular, tall blonde, who had been staring at me for some time, walked over and introduced herself as a film producer. She'd worked out that I was English and wanted "un Inglés tipico" for a film. The film was apparently "cachondeo" meaning comedy so I suspected I was going to have the p*** taken and declined her kind offer. This was just after Franco had died so Spain was going mad for porn and all kinds of stupid stuff.
My film history wees all over anyone else on here.
I'm An armed policeman in Vendetta, the new Danny Dyer film. I get whole seconds of screen time.
Just done a load of filming for a couple of things, one is a film called He Who Dares 2, in which I'm a mercenary goon who gets shot midway through the film, although I do get a line! That one will be straight to the bargain bin at your local 24hr petrol station...
Also just done a documentary about Green Berets in Fallujah for Discovery channel.
So. Is there any money in being an extra?
Scott Mills read out my text once, years ago.
Janice Long reads out my texts every time I send one in whilst driving home from work. I think her audience comprises of 10 truck drivers and half a dozen bored cameramen on their way home. Text in. You can write almost anything and she is guaranteed to read it out.
Was in superman 3 or 4 (can't remember which) they filmed some of it in Milton Keynes, cut most of the footage but me and a bunch of other class mates are playing American football in one scene. You should have seen the amount of mums that turned up at the school to get a glimpse of Reeve swinging from a crane.
Was in the really wild show as a child and was allowed to stroke Michaela Strachan's snake.
I was an extra in Small Faces. I was quite prominent in one scene - though most folk I know who have watched it miss me as they're focussing on the action at that point!
Seem to recall the money was reasonable (but I was a student at the time, so maybe not...)
I've had a pretty decent TV career - haven't yet broken into films though, but it can only be just a matter of time.
I was one of the kids in background pretending to climb a rope in 1978 when our form master was filmed by local TV in our school gym. You could see me for nearly half a second.
I was an extra in First Knight with Sean Connery and Richard Gere. Bloody awful movie but the money was ok for a 20 year old for a summer in the early 90's.
I had a small part in a low budget scandanavian movie in the 90s. Apparently i wasn't supposed to actually fix the washing machine.... 😳
True Blue - the one about the 1987 Oxford/Cambridge boat race. I was a rowing stunt double (well, rower for all the scenes at a distance where they could get rid of the actors and let us come in and row properly) - even recognisable on screen in the 7-seat of the losing Oxford 1986 boat.
Those were the days! 🙂

I think she'd be surprised if was as big an audience as that. Maybe I caught her on a off day but listening to her show was like listening to someone talking to their cat and hasn't realised theres a microphone in the room.
Not on here but a bloke on Pistonheads was an extra in alot of the Band of Brother episodes. Jealous!
I'm very, very briefly in MADE, a mountain bike film.
Battle Royal segment, Peaty's motox race, I'm the guy in blue/orange Troy Lee kit left stalled on the start line of the race 😳 It worked a treat though, I got it going and rode round the massive first turn pile up involving about 20 people, then same again in turn 2! Faded on the last lap though, then came down with swine flu the day after, so not my best performance!
It's in the trailer too if you look closely:
I was in a brochure for a gay hotel in Torquay once. True story.
Me and the missus were in a documentary. Most of my lines were edited out. Probably cos I sound like I'm stoned. And what I said was shit.
I was an extra in Prince Valiant which basically involved spending two nights in a field near Llanberis running around with a load of other long haired soap dodgers. And getting paid for it.
Also starred Joanna Lumley and Chesney Hawkes.
Have watched it once and you can't see me at all 🙁
Having thought about my brush with fame I had a hunt through my backup HDD and lo/behold found a rather shaky copy of Rockface!
So, enjoy one of the worst/cheesiest lines ever to grace our TV screens, you'll know which line it is when you hear it! Now you know why they only made 2 series and never released a DVD!
If you pause at 38 secs you'll see me. No. 48 with a purple/turquoise/black Pace top and red shorts. Riding an Orange Mr XC with Bombers, although you can hardly tell.
Fawn at my water splashing skillz!
I've been on The Tube.
I was an extra in a Disney movie "Escape from the Dark", which was Alastair Sims last film.
I was in a brochure for a gay hotel in Torquay once. True story.

My only question about this is 'did it ensure the hotel became a gay haunt?'
