You're going to have to change your username.

Anyway, this thread is going to be a bloodbath and will descended into the usual Calories in > Calories out v iDave/No Carb proponents. But all I will say is the only time I have lost weight and kept it off is doing the former. Usually using MFP app, and exercise.

Banting etc does work, but is hard to sustain, but at it's core is calorie restriction via food group restriction in my very humble opinion. As you're restricting calorie dense foods.

Any horror stories ?

Interesting poop incoming.

Actually Banting and the Swedish word banta both originate from the same 19th century undertaker:

I hope some fruit. Berries, at least. I just tried the 100% chocolate. Now, I have my espresso unsweetened, but that choccy is incredible.

I thought iDave used legumes for carbs, so wasn't ketogenic.

There's always the milk diet, where you consume nothing but milk for about a month, if I understand it correctly.
You drink between four to six quarts a day, goes back to 1923.

You just have to get out and do some Panting, or stay in and wear Panties.

I had a go at Banting about a year ago. My wife is from Cape Town and it is quite popular over there and we decided to give it a go when we returned to the uk. I have the worst diet goiing... Biscuits with every cup of tea, puddings every day, left over cake in the mornings (if there was any left in the house. I had quite the addiction to sugar. I went cold turkey with the Banting and gave up sugar straight away. Spent time preparing meals, followed recipes in my Banting books etc etc and it was absolute hell for the first month while I got used to living without sugary snacks and carbs. Really got into it though and thoroughly enjoyed all the meals. I lost 2 stone over 8 months, had more energy than ever, never felt hungry, ate less, my mood lifted, even joined an exercise class. Then I went on holiday for three weeks, fell off the wagon and stopped Banting. Piled on the weight, lost all my energy and enthusiasm and back to snacking. Banting is amazing once you get into it, just make sure you stick to it and treat it as a lifestyle not a diet.

Why does eating healthily to lose [s]weight[/s] fat have to have a fancy name before people take notice of it?

It doesn't really. It's just named after the guy who popularised it back in the day.

I've no idea what "Venting" is, but the crux of that seems to be "I stopped eating so much crap and lost weight." Film at eleven.
