As above.... any good?
Brukit
They work, but they're considerably slower than an MSR Reactor or a Jetboil - much cheaper than both of course. I ran a comparison with several other stoves, and the Brukit didn't seem to offer any real advantage over something like a Pocket Rocket (or the Alpkit equivalent) while being significantly bulkier. I sold the one I had fairly soon after I got it.
Look flinkin cheap cf Jetboil. There's a thread on UKC about them I think... http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/info/search.php?forum=0&dates=0&name=&topic=brukit&body=
Ta.
Love it, a link to UKC where the main source is a link to here!

Chuckle 🙂
A Rocket and BruPot (or whatever the reactor type pot is called) offers much better boil times. The received wisdom is the pot is good, the stove is not.

This...
Sold my BruKit burner, kept the pot and stuff Alpkit's MytiMug, a small gas cylinder and KraKu stove into it. The KraKu stove isn't supposed to be used with the BruPot but I've not had any dramas yet...it does fit although it's a wee bit shoogly!
Oh, and can someone please explain the logic behind the clammer for faster boil times? Every time I go camping I like to chill so another 2min waiting for the thing to boil is more time to kick back and have another small dram!
Got one as a gift. Surprisingly bulky compared to my other gas stove and 1l ti pan.
I think it will be reserved for trip where it will be two people sharing. Bit too bulky and heavy for solo.
I am with rosscopeco.
"Whats that you say? You've shaved your boil time to 3mins 5s? Let me just chcuk these twiggs on my stove and I will be over directly to shake your hand."
Quicker boil=less fuel=less fuel to carry. Obviouly not a consideration for an overnighter but you wont get the benefit of a reactor pot on an overnighter. They're supposed to be 30-40% more efficient which means on longer trips, your gas lasts longer which is a GOOD thing.
Gas is for wimps.
Gas is for wimps.
I avoided liquid fuel for quite a while because I couldn't be bothered with what I thought would be additional faff.
Eventually caved after it dawned on me that I spent most morning in winter drinking luke warm coffee because I couldn't get a proper boil going.
Didn't want to leave gas completely, so bought an Primus Omni Ti (which you can use liquid fuels or gas with), which although eyewateringly expensive, I managed to pick up for an absolute steal.
Can't believe how long I faffed around with gas!
I don't think I've fitted gas to it since I bought it 18 months ago!
-10 and 40 mph winds...gas would have given up a long time ago...
pf - what liquid fuel (got a link) do you use?
I have one and tbh I think it is bloody good for £35
Ok it is quite large but come on a 1 ltr container has a volume of over 1 ltr what do folk expect
Boil times ok it may be slower than other stoves but what difference does a couple of minutes make really.
From me at £35 there is no room to complain

Primus Power Fuel, stoner. I bought a few litres when I picked up the stove.
It must burn very clean, since any time I've cleaned the stove it's barely needed it.

The slow boil can be put up with, the implied inefficiency is an annoyance, but by far the worst fault is inexcusable - no 220g or 250g gas can will fit in the pot with the burner!
The pot is fine, when used with another stove it works more efficiently, faster and assuming the form factor is smaller it will fit in the pot with the fuel can. So dont get a brukit, get the brupot only.
Stoner the 230g cannisters fit fine.
Admittedly not as easy to find as coleman cannisters but to be fare it does say on the padded bag to use 230g
Stoner the 230g cannisters fit fine.
I can get 220g and 250g to fit in the pan, I just cant get the stove part to fit in there with it. Can you get both the 230g and the burner inside the pot with the lid on?
yes not a problem
All you have to do is unscrew the burner from the cannister ( not a bad thing to do for safety)and it fits on top of the burner
which brand of 230g are we talking about?
Quicker boil=less fuel=less fuel to carry
Seems obvious now that you mention it. Thanks for educating me...I did ask!
For me...I'm never away bike camping for more than 4 days, and haven't as yet had the manhood to camp when it's below 0Deg! Therefore Gas works for me and a wee fire is always welcome on a camping trip.
If all that changes then the Primus will be duly considered. It looks like the westies testies...if I could afford it!
I got one of those Ti omnifuels last year after having the original for years. The Ti one is much lighter but it's a strangled version power wise. The original is a BEAST and no mistake. Apparently the engine for Bloodhound SSC is modelled on it 🙂
Anyone use a twig burning stove? Thinking about going down that road for the future.....
Yes...got my Chinese copy of eBay for a few quid. To date I've used it more than gas. For me a wee cuppa tea and a roasted troll taste way better when you manage to light a few twigs with a magnesium fire stick and some dry tinder.

Will give it a go!
Anyone used the Brukit?
Used it on a two person bothy trip last week. Boil times were fast enough the time wasn't an issue. Stable.Very efficient, almost no waste heat felt when I put my hand around the stove. Plenty gas left after three days of cooking and brews.
Still think it's too bulky for one person use though. I'll be sticking to a smaller pot and separate stove for solo trips for less bulk and weight.

Yep i use a honey stove in four panel and six panel mode and also the expansion to a hive.
Its enjoyable faff.
I am at the stage i am pretty confident it will burn in anyweather but I normally have some solud fuel or a popcan meths burner to use it it aswell. Its a messy system with lots of soot but fire is nice.
Also carrieed charcoal for a micro barbeque.
i'd look at a diy souptin stove to get a feel for wether you can be arsed
Todays weather was lovely so headed out for a dry spin and a brew at a quite spot in the woods. Twig stove worked really well and despite a very soggy few days I was really chuffed to got it lit easily with a few strikes on a fire stick onto some old mans beard and a thin pine feather stick. It's only the second fire this year I've managed to get going with tinder lying about as opposed to me stuffing some in my rucksack. The brupot worked great again and is taking on a nice black colouring on the bottom.
I'm now hunting for a smaller twig stove of the same design that I could either fit the Brupot / Ti mug into or visa versa.

Find the biggest can that fits in your pot of choice,
find a can that's a bit smaller. youtube the construction of wood gas stove.
bash on.
