Joined a queue of 2000+ hoping to go and watch the afternoon preview with the kids but no joy. Anybody have better luck?
tried to get some for my wife but the site was abysmal, kept 500'ing. 6,000 seater venue for a gig that big seems odd anyway - surely they could have filled a stadium?
Nope. Forgot to join the queue at midday. By the time I'd remembered all sessions at 2000+ in the queue, so I didn't stay. Damn, unlikely to get the opportunity again for a few years.
I guess I'll be watching and home and joining the annual Eurovision thread on here again this May.

I guess a purpose designed venue like that is better suited to hosting a highly technical theatre show than a football stadium.
Lady I manage at work got tickets for the semis, she made us postpone our team meeting by 15min so she could focus on ticketmaster 🙂
Didn't even try mainly because its literally right before the GCSE's and A levels and so my kids would have been too distracted by it.
Apparently this now means I have to try for Taylor Swift.......which will be even more fun
My wife managed to get 4 tickets for one of the evening semi final live TV shows. We live in North Liverpool so she really wanted to go as both her and our kids love it. We didn't even try for the final as we knew it would be a sell out straight away.
Looks like we got lucky.
That website was abysmal wasn't it?
That's 2 hrs I won't get back.
Oh well, gonna have a Eurovision party instead.
APF

I'll also be in that queue.
Didn't even try. Will be having a party though.
Didn't try, mainly as there's (allegedly) no accommodation in Liverpool and CBA driving back home after.
I have been to two Eurovision semis before though, in Dusseldorf and Malmo. Great fun.
My wife did for the semi-final though I suspect this means I might have to drive her back from Liverpool to Manchester when it finishes
It might be time for me to start thinking about renting rooms 🤔
No but my house is up for rent for the week!
Yep. Semi only. Had to get top grade tickets as well, as that's all was available.
Wife somehow logged on at work, got straight through to the final tickets. Was so shocked that she texted me to say "what do I do?" and by the time she clicked on something they'd all apparently gone.
Not sure whether to go camp, or fully camp for it. But very excited! 😁
Why on earth does anyone want to go? I am no music snob but **** me….
Hopefully cos they'll lock out all the miserable ****s.
Some people like classical concerts, some people like the mosh pit, some people like (shudder) musicals and many many many people like Eurovision. That's why music is so ace - there is something for absolutely everyone.
To be fair I was always pretty snobby about it but 25 years married to a Dutchy has cured me of that - they are fanatical - ALL of them.
The music is better than it used to be but obviously not really why its so much fun, its the atmos and seeing my kids having fun dancing and shouting at the TV when the voting goes our way (Dutch or UK) always makes me feel more part of Europe which has been hard recently
Its a great excuse for a party too
Why on earth does anyone post on a thread about something they're not interested in to say that they're not interested in it? I am as much of an idle internet scroller as anyone else, but **** me….
Thoughts and prayers going out to those poor souls traumatised by not getting tickets.
Why on earth does anyone post on a thread about something they’re not interested in to say that they’re not interested in it?
This ‘internet’ discussion thing all a bit new to you is it?! 😂
It’s what people do and have been doing for as long as I can remember the www being around… Newsgroups and onwards. Different opinions, relevant or not expressed. Why is it any less worthwhile than you being fake baffled by them saying they don’t like it?
Anyway, that scene in Last of Us where he sticks a knife in the guy’s leg and threatens to rip his knee cap off? I’d rather have that done than watch Eurovision 🤣🤣
As above but less knee cap surgery: I haven't watched since the trauma of been made to watch multiple Irish wins.
So pleased I've got own TV now.
It's not fake bafflement, it's entirely genuine. But, you're right, bellends have existed since the dawn of the internet, and long before.
Anyway, that scene in Last of Us where he sticks a knife in the guy’s leg and threatens to rip his knee cap off?
Nope, not seen it. Maybe I should post in the Last of Us discussion thread to say "I haven't seen it".
It's more a "I don't like this" than an "I've not seen this", I think. But you can do whatever you want. The beauty (and beast) of the net innit 😀
Then go and do it on another thread!
I don't like Marmite or capers, but I'm not going to mention it here because the thread is about getting tickets for an event.
I didn't realise Eurovision fans were so sensitive 😆 sorry, I was curious. I'll go where the internet police will let me type words as relevant as theirs.
Why on earth does anyone want to go? I am no music snob but **** me….
Agree. Genuinely no idea. It's a real head scratcher. The "music" is absolutely horrific and it'll be full of moronic bandwagoner chavs who just follow others blindly. The whole thing is out dated and filled with talentless drivel.
I can only put this thread and those fawning over this as attention seeking and/or boredom. If this is all you can think of to fill your time you must be desperately bored and devoid of ideas, especially when you consider the wealth of real music talent that you could go and see. When people create fake clamour for horse sh!t like this, I weep for the future.
There, I said it.
Just. Wow.
I love Eurovision!
Would never buy any of the music or go and see the artists themselves, but the whole thing is just great. I don't care if sad, overly serious people look down on me for loving it, i'll be enjoying myself too much to care!
I haven't got tickets though, as can't afford it right now. Will be watching on the telly though.

...because I have a wife and kids that love it, my daughter is 8 and she likes pop music and especially Sam Ryder who won it last year. She also loves the Eurovision film, so wanted to go, we live in Liverpool, it was a good opportunity.
Now personally I am not a fan of "Euro Pop" but I'm damned if I'm going to be a miserable * and let her down, just cos it doesn't fit in with the STW demographic.
Have you got kids?? Jeez.
My girlfriend and her best friend got tickets for the Jury Final on Friday. Paid a pretty penny for them though! It's not my cup of tea, but she loves it.

Brilliant. I love it, but I'd never buy the music or go and see any of the 'artists'. Yet i'll watch it on the telly 'cos I love it init'.
I'm not qualified to unpick this and help you.
And the Brian Sewell Award for Condescending Knobber of the Day goes to
*drumroll"..........
Bit on Radio 4 earlier about how the touts are using queue jumping software to buy up the vast majority of the tickets. For £99 a month you start to get access to Golden Circles queue pass software which basically penetrates the ticket sellers software to move it's virtual buyers to the front of the queue. Originally developed to buy up limited edition trainers as they were released.
So basically for the really popular events your chances now of getting a ticket are getting smaller and smalle
Which is why we should have laws that limit the markup on the face value of tickets
My kids love Eurovision too - it's just a bit of fun.

How have you got around explaining about Jaja Ding Dong? I've yet to let mine (8 and 10) watch the movie as the 10y.o. already has a lot of questions 😆
When I feel your gentle touch
And things are going our way
I wanna spill my love on you all day, all day
Jaja ding dong (ding dong)
My love for you is growing wide and long
Jaja ding dong (ding dong)
I swell and burst when I see what we become
Jaja ding dong (ding dong)
Come, come my baby, we can get love on
Jaja ding dong (ding dong)
When I see you, I feel like ding-ding dong
Love expands when I'm with you
All over the milky way
I wanna open up to you all day, all day
Alright everyone, move your body, woo
Jaja ding dong (ding dong)
My love for you is growing wide and long
Jaja ding dong (ding dong)
I swell and burst when I see what we become (come on everyone)
Jaja uh ding dong (ding dong)
Come, come my baby, we can get love on
Jaja ding dong (ding dong)
When I see you, I feel like ding-ding dong
it’ll be full of moronic bandwagoner chavs
What? Eurovision? Most of the Eurovision parties I've been to over the years were parties that bandwagoning chavs wouldn't be seen dead at. Superflamboyant, LGBTQ+, beautiful, friendly, very funny..... embrace it sweetheart, it might change your life!
We'll have a house full of people, and binners. We'll get mullered, have a laugh and try and predict the voting based on who has/needs the most tanks/gas/tomatoes.
Having an English entry who was actually good last year really put a spanner in the works.
My predictions without hearing a single song:
1. Ukraine - Obvs
2. Poland or Finland - The buffer zone
3. A Scandinavian - They all vote for each other
UK bottom third irrespective of how good the song is.

Luckily that question hasn't come up yet!! The innocence of kids 🙂
It's an entirely innocent song of love and friendship, some people just have dirty minds 😉
Just heard the Mae Muller song…
If you take politics out of the equation it is going to be difficult to beat.
Bring it on!

Sooooooooo much autotune... can they do that live?
Just heard the Mae Muller song…
I got about 1:15 in before I had to stop (not the target audience!) but it seemed to have all the requisite Eurovision features so could do OK.
... it is going to be difficult to beat.
The BBC won't want that! Wasn't it the Irish who knobbled their own chances of winning 3 years on the trot because of the expense of hosting it?
Edit - they actually won it 3 years in a row, 1992, 93 and 94! Plus once more in 96.

I have to say, I disagree. I think it sounds like what you'd get if you loaded every Eurovision song from the past ten years into ChatGPT and asked it to come up with a new one - it is hugely generically 'Eurovision', but without any kind of stand out quality or interest, which the songs that do well all have.
Top half at best I reckon.
Top half at best I reckon
It's definitely one reason to like Eurovision!!
I thought it was quite a good Eurovision track. Won't win, but should do quite well I reckon.
My brother and his partner are full on eurovision obsessives, they do the whole ESC Fan TV and suchlike... Lots of very grumpy uberfans this year apparently, with a little bit of extra salt in the wounds that you can get in the ticket queue and think you're going to get tickets, then you get offered the £45000 package!
They're going to one of the semi finals so I expect I'll be hearing a lot about that for the next year but all power to 'em. I'm off to London for the weekend to see the same band 3 times and they probably think that's equally absurd

I'm genuinely experiencing fake bafflement at this.
