Hi, good chance I can have a few days in Turin, mid September with my 20 yr old son. Never been - love the visits to Italy, really happy for it to be a chilled few days in the city, not wanting to travel out of it (as I'll be motorcycling there and back), son is really happy relaxing, cafes, pasta, chilled beer. Be lovely to hang out with him. Son's not into biking, and neither of us are esp good at culture, but do love soaking up the 'vibe', visit Juve on the list!

Trying to do it on a budget, so any recos for places to stay (Airbnb, hostels, guest houses, hotels) that are central, plus any city based activities ... just starting our own research but a heads up would be great!

Thanks

Only what I've seen in the original Italian Job - looked a lovely place for a relaxing drive. 😀

I loved Turin when I went, but it was nearly 20 years ago. Went to a motor museum and a museum with Egyptian mummies plus a look at The Shroud Of Turin. Can't help much more than that I'm afraid.

We stayed in the Arsenale district walking distance from the centre with cheap places to eat. A bit run down but has the amazing tethered baloon thing you can go up in for a bird's eye view of the city. The cinematic museum in the Mole Antonelliana is really worth a visit (great building too). Stupinigi palace outside the city is good.

Was about to be my answer. We went up the nearby hill where a Torino team died in an aircraft, a story I'd not heard before.

But it was just lovely to stroll around. Much preferred it to Milan

Try the Lingotto - formerly Fiat, now has shops, art gallery from the Agnelli collection etc, but also the Fiat test track on the roof! Banked on the corners. Well worth a visit. I’d second the Mole as well. Nice for a wander round the arcaded streets near the centre. I think Juve do stadium tours - not been to the new stadium, the old Studio delle Alpi was terrible. You might want to watch Torino instead - Toro are the real choice of the Torinese - Juve a bit like the Man U of old. Have a read of Juve by Herbie Sykes if you can get a copy or his book Balmamion - both good on local football but also the wider culture.
