I bought 17 waxed limewood blanks on Saturday and currently they are piled up in my sitting room, away from the radiators and no sunlight falls on them. Is there any danger of drying and twisting from keeping these inside? Size-wise the smallest is about 6x3x4''. The lumber merchant (about to retire) said he'd never been asked this question but 'keep an eye on them' whatever that means. Any informed observations most gratefully received.
Well it depends how they have been stored/dried - but this time of the year is probably the worst to move wood inside if it was stored outside , got wet, or was not fully dried - so out in the garage as long as its not too damp - or keep it in the coldest part of the house at first - then move it over time to the place most similar to where it will end up when finished, limewood does not warp as much as other wood - is it for carving?
Yep, carving. It was stored inside and milled about 2 years ago. That's very encouraging advice and it tempts me to go back and get some more, he was doing 20% off already keen prices so about half the cost of what I've seen advertised on Ebay.
