I'm not a huge fan of blocking different views but the click bait news stories with no real info. from sites like the daily mail and express just wind me up and I'd rather not see them.  Does anyone know of any tricks to block them?  Theoretically there is a block list available but it only seems to accept one site at a time which doesn't quite cut it

Or just being able to block and headline with a FEW WORDS in capitals would also pretty much do it 🙂

yes,

rather than use the "News" link in google search, use

https://news.google.com

and assuming you have a google account, you can set sources to prefer or block, and google will remember your prefs.

Look in "Manage Sections"

You can block specific domains like dailymail.com or spamme.ru using the personal blocklist extension in Chrome. The blocked results appear momentarily until the extension filters them out. You can have multiple domains.

@stoner - yes, that's the link I use and how I block stuff but it only appears to remember the last one I entered.  Are you getting it to remember more?

@whitestone - I'll give that a look thanks.

edit: just tried 'sources' again in news.google and it only remembers the last one entered

are you sure you are logged into google/chrome when you change your preferences?

Mine remembers my block list without problem.

that's weird. mine's not working too now.

When I originally opened settings I had 3x blocked sources.

Went back and there were none.

Added three back, now only the last one is saved.

im guessing cookieproblem.

not a cookieproblem, a googleproblem.

There are some user posts about it on google product forum. Weird that it was working until I went into the settings to verify. Damn you leffe, you buggered up my filters!!!!1

looks like its a problem only with the UK version. You can add preferred sources and block others in the US edition and it remembers it, but in the Uk version it doesnt.

anyway, glad it's not just me - thought i had screwed something up

Can't remember exactly where but I think next to each calibre there's an option to not show stories from whatever news source.

Just out of interest I tried it here in the States and it does block the US pages I have tried, but not the UK pages.

@leffeboy - my mistake! The extension I linked is for search results not news stories.

Ah, joy of joys, it appears to work again. Just go to news.google.com, settings bottom left then hidden sources.  Add away to avoid all the clickbait crap

Or just go here  https://news.google.com/settings/feedback

I use the Tea and Kittens plug in, any Daily Mail link is removed and replaced with a picture of a cup of tea or a kitten....
