Having been put off the CX5 my focus has now turned to the Tiguan.

Any owners on here that can give me some honest feedback.

Seen a 17 plate SE-L 2.0tdi that seems to fit the bill.

Will I fit an XL full Susser in with the front wheel off.

Thanks.

We have a 64 plate, so I think it's the previous generation. Ours is the 180ish bhp 4motion DSG. Drives nicely, but our T6 is better on fuel! Boot is smaller than expected.

There's nothing wrong with it, but I really don't like it and can't put a finger on why. I think its my hatrid of SUVs. Overall, wish I'd bought the golf I really wanted, but it was 3k cheaper than an equivalent golf.

I've not had my L rocketmax in it, but it's a tight fit for my road bike (wheels on) so I think the rocketmax would struggle with just the front wheel removed. Likely to need the passenger seat pushing all the way forwards

My large 27.5 full sus fitted in my wife’s fine. Will you also have a front seat passenger? There’s quite a bit extra room with the front seat pushed forward a bit.

Is a 17 plate the new version? We’d the original and suffered from the common leaky clutch release bearing seal which ruined the clutch and flywheel and very nearly the whole bell housing. New version is fixed apparently, or make sure it’s the dual clutch transmission.

We had a 1st gen 4motion - it was competent enough, but fitting my L Aeris 145 in with only the front wheel off required angling the bike and/or pushing the passenger seat forwards. Swapped it for a Grand Cherokee as we needed a higher towing capacity, and wanted shot before the clutch issue reared its head.

Wife has a 68 plate standard wheelbase SEL 2.0tdi 4motion 150bhp. Can take a full suss bike with the front wheel off and the seatpost down. Very capable car, decent driving position and high 40s to 50+ mpg depending on use. The Allspace model is longer, same load length & oily bits as a Skoda Kodiaq.

Its a non 4 motion model Im looking at which are meant to be a bit better on fuel so that should be good.

Bonus that the bikes fits in too.

I have a 2019 R Line Tdi 2.0 DSG, I think the same as the 2017 SEL you're looking at. I put a 29er, 19.5 frame in the back, front wheel removed, without any trouble.
I really like the Tiguan, especially the new design. Handling is way better than the original Tiguan and it is a very comfortable car especially for motorway driving, which I do a lot of.
Somebody on here described the a Tiguan as much use as a chocolate teapot. It is no landrover but my 4motion has got me out of muddy fields pulling a caravan. Average mpg for me is 44mpg solo and 30mpg pulling a caravan. I had a manual SEL before the RLine and fuel consumption was about 50mpg on that but when towing was about the same as the DSG, 30mpg.
Reliabilty has been excellent though the self sealing tyres are expensive and if you get a puncture nobody wants to repair them.

I currently have a 200 TDI DSG Elegance 4Motion as a company car. It's comfy and has loads of kit, but is a bit meh in most respects. The boot floor isn't flat with the seats folded which makes getting a bike in and out a bit of a faff and the boot is a bit on the small side with the seats up. The DSG gearbox is truly hateful, pulling out of a junction mostly gets you an out of office reply. Mine has only done 1600 miles so I'm hoping it will get better with time. The nav and infotainment system is pretty good though, you'd be amazed how many car companies do it really badly. Overall it's a perfectly adequate tool to do a job, but if I'd had the choice, a biggish estate would do most things better.

I can get two almost fully built (seatposts out) 29er long bikes in my kodiaq. If the bars were shorter it would be slightly easier.

I stick them in velo socks.

Have to agree, I'm also a dissatisfied SUV driver. Went from a 4x4 Skoda Superb that was getting old to a Honda CR-V. Worse in pretty much every way. Now looking to change it for another estate.

Just been and had a look at this one and whilst it was a lovely car there were too many niggly things wrong with it to go ahead.

Cracked rear tyres
Corroded discs front and back
Scratches over the plastic armrest inside
A dent in the rear number
A dent in the passenger side cill cover

Other than that it was great.

This sums up SUVs for me. Really dont see the appeal.
