You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My wife is into long distance (e.g. 100 mile) trail running events. Think Lakeland 100 etc. She has various smaller (8-12L) packs for these events but is looking for something a bit larger (say 20L) for winter training in Scottish mountains where she needs to take more kit for obvious reasons. The problem is that this tends to get you into day hike sacks, which lack all the pockets on the front that she finds so useful on her usual ultra-running packs.
So, any tips for a decent running pack that's around 20L and has plenty of pockets on the front? Extra points if it is actually in stock somewhere.
Thanks.
Ultimate Direction Fastpack would probably be my recommendation. I've got the FP30 for expedition races and long MMs and they're goods - they do a 'women's specific' version as well.

Thanks @Pyro The FP20 looks ideal. It looks as though there may be a new model, which is hard to find in stock and an older (including an FPHer version) that is. I should have mentioned that my wife hates female specific stuff that is just the same pack in pink, but I've got some options to look at now though, which is great.

My wife is the same, but, some female specific backpacks are worth looking at as the straps are designed around having a bit more up front than your typical fella.
No worries roverpig, a few friends use the FPHer and they're definitely a slightly different fit to the mens/unisex, but what works for one person might not work for others!
I've got one of these, used it for a mountain marathon and general walks/runs
It looks huge in the photos but it's mostly fabric so can be squashed down 'into itself' if you don't need the full capacity.
Anything by USWE packs for you? They've got running specific ones. I was going to look at them when I'm ready to stump up for a new one, I like the idea of the cross chest fastening.

Thanks folks. I've gone for the latest version of the UD Fastpack 20 as it seems to tick all the boxes. We'll see what the fit is like when it arrives but I bought it from Castleberg Outdoors who seem to have a pretty hassle free returns policy.
I was going to say not the Inov8 2 in 1 thingy. Probably not big enough anyway, but its main issue is consistent with their Roclite shoes.
I’ve been looking at these, on offer atm:
