I just sold a kiteboard to someone in Switzerland for £225 and according to the tracking info it’s awaiting their customs to release it.
Will they have anything to pay? I already paid VAT on it even originally purchased and not really sure what happens with second hand stuff?
I had a guy in Switzerland pull out of a sale as the tax/duty on the item (s/h bike parts) would make it not worth his while.
second hand also attracts VAT
Killed off a lot of guitar/amp trades
Yes, they will have to pay 'a shit ton' of fees/tax. Did you complete export documents properly?
This page will give you an idea of the charges. We lived there for 13 yrs and had to stop relatives sending parcels as even a selection box at Christmas time cost us a minimum of £35 to receive, and that was just the handling charge.

EDIT: this is nothing to do with Brexit, CH is outside EU and has always been. It's just the swiss being swiss.
Cheers. I’m not that fussed yet, I’m assuming he knew what he was getting in to, I was just curious as I didn’t know for Switzerland.
Yes I think I filled the docs in correctly 👍
Yup the swiss have aways been a bit tax keen. Old VW car parts got far to expensive from that area people would drive them to Germany first then ship them.
The tax limit for new goods is about 50 pounds and there's a 20 Franc handling fee plus 10% VAT. If it's sent via the Swiss Post office, he'll get an email with the tax bill and the parcel'll get sent out the day following payment. It all works very smoothly.
Well the tracking info says it’s been collected from depot and I’ve not had any complaints from him, so all good as far as I can see 🙂
Good news!
