What do you use for a mattress on the top bunk ? I have only the boards at the moment. Be handy to find something I could leave up there and still close the top.
Seen talk of memory foam toppers, would need to be about 1"-2" deep I guess.
I've got a foam topper about 1" I think, and then 2 self inflating mats underneath.
I think you'd struggle with a 2" topper, I can't shut the pop top with the mats inflated, depends on your top though.
It's never comfortable.... you have to also watch the weight up there, I don't use it as a bed really just a spare but I do use the headspace and the boards won't stay up with much more than the topper and mats up there, so you have to put sleeping kit somewhere else to get the head height.
1" memory foam and 2x thermarest. We have a decathlon lightweight synthetic duvet which clips down and with the thermarests deflated the top closes. For colder we have a phd down duvet as well.
Reimo top aP?
Sorry to hijack OP but I'll look at that if it will all close together.
We use the self-inflatable mattresses we used when we tented. The kids stay up there and though its not a Reimo roof it does close with the mattresses up there, though not the ones we use on the Rock and Roll bed. Though i've never slept up there myself it seems perfectly comfy. The wood panel is cushioned so with the roll up mattress its fine.
Two 55cm wide, 5cm thick mats sewn/glued together.
Have to manually deflate them before closing the roof, but not really am issue.
This is with a Hilo roof.
