As above. Getting fed up with finding just hte right combination of clicks to only accept minimum required cookies on the various sites that I visit. Even if I have been to a site before usually the next week they have changed something so it is time to find the hidden 'save choices' button again. Is anyone using any sort of add-in to manage this that they can recommend?

No, I just accept all. They don't bother me at all. Sorry.

This is also me. Perhaps naive, stupid or worse...but whatever cookies do, they haven't killed me or tried to steal my money yet.

Should I be worried about them?

"Should I be worried about them?"

Depends if you'd be concerned, for example, if every letter that came to you by post had obviously been opened and read before delivery?

(For an example, read the T & C's that you have to accept before you can access an aol email account)

That’s not an equivalency to cookies, though. What you are describing is either secure web browsing (https/etc), or as you say - what the Ts & Cs allow.

A better metaphor, but still a crap one, for cookies would be “would you be concerned if every time you moved house you got lots of targeted junk mail sent directly to you, even if you hadn’t informed the senders of your move”. Cookies are about tracking you across the websites you visit, and do not in an of themselves violate (or not) your privacy.

Anyway - I’m not overly happy with cookies but I allow them as the hassle isn’t worth whatever upside I may perceive by not having them.

That is the very definition of a violation of privacy.

If it's more hassle to get rid than to accept the site you're on is not respecting EU directives, and is probably breaking UK GDPR rules.

They should have "continue without cookies" button clearly visible on the pop up. But they don't because who in their right mind would click anything else?

Yep, except that the other option would be to get lots of non targeted junk mail.

consent-o-matic is what you are looking for. I've only recently stared experimenting with it, so far so good.

They should have “continue without cookies” button clearly visible on the pop up.

This. One click to proceed without tracking. Anything else is just trying to railroad, bore or confuse people into accepting tracking. Give the "accept" option more visual precedence if need be, but have the alternative beside it, without making users hunt for it.

But they don’t because who in their right mind would click anything else?

Most people will still accept, because, really, they either don't care or are happy with tracking and targeting (especially if asked for permission in a fair and transparent way). Well, I am anyway. Those that want to opt out should be enabled to do so... quickly, easily & simply.

Has anyone tried to customise their cookie settings on singletrack?

Very confused, I had a look a while ago. It's not clear but seems that even if you don't consent, you have to go through 9 tick boxes, most of which provide legitimate interest to serve personalised ads. I thought legitimate interest was for the core purpose of the site to enable it to work (i.e login and shopping cart etc, or perhaps marketing if that was primary purpose of the site i.e a charity looking to encourage donations).

And then there is a huge vendor list (advertiser's) many of which have a legitimate interest box that you would have work your way through.

And then of course 2 days later it would pop up and you've have to do it all again!

A scan by cookiebot also says:
Your website is: Not compliant

The following requirements in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive 2009/136/EC (ePR) have been tested:

Prior consent on other than strictly necessary cookies (ePR)
Prior consent on personal data (GDPR)
Personal data is transmitted to 'adequate countries' only (GDPR)

Thanks for the consentomatic recommendation, I'll take a look.  I recognize that cookies are one way of paying for the internet but as far as I can see the ads get served regardless, it's just a question of how targeted to me they are so selecting the minimum possible is my preferred option along with actually paying for those sites I care about most

I'm also not particularly happy about the profile of me that can be built so I'm happy to restrict that but balancing it with inconvenience
