Just a thought. Currently looking for work in the south east but there doesn't seem much out there. Wondering if anyone here was in the game and had suggestions of good recruitment sites to use or other helpful type suggestions. 🙂

Depending on whether you consider Southampton/Winchester to be South East, there is a testing role in the list here:

If you have not got the ISEB Foundation certificate in Software testing, it might be worth looking into getting that. Many adverts say it is desirable and may help you get ahead of others.

I'm a Software Tester and have yet to find a recruitment agent worth recommending I'm afraid.

Worth looking at RM who are based on Milton Park near Didcot, Oxfordshire. They often seem to be recruiting, depending on what projects they have going.

Speaking as a producer of software that never has any bugs you can try the std ones I use ;+)

www.jobserve.com
www.reed.co.uk
www.totaljobs.co.uk
www.theitjobboard.co.uk
http://www.jobsite.co.uk

I have a c.v. on LinkedIn - and have had quite a few punts from that (*but I suspect that's down to the fact I have some very niche skills)
however it's free.

I finally fit into a niche on STW, this is so rad (or not considering the subject).

I agree with the comments above.
- ISEB is good to have and most employers look for it for this type of job (but you'd probably never use it if you did get the job).
- There are no good job agencies as they're basically telesales people out to make money and talk way too much (sorry if your fitting that niche).
- Jobserve is pretty much the best place to look but remember which jobs you apply for with which agents, as a lot of agents post for the same job (be selective on who you apply through, although I think Spring owns most agencies nowadays).

Good Luck.

I think there's some testy jobs going in Dorchester & Poole if that helps. Hardly in the south east though!

I'm a Software Tester, but can't help in the South East I'm afraid.

Being ISEB Foundation and ISEB Practitioner qualified does seem to get you interviews, but as said, you'll very rarely use anything you learnt on them.

I believe they've changed it now though to be http://www.istqb.org/ though.

Best advice I can give. Mailshot everyone you've ever worked with and see if they know of any opportunities. This is how the vast majority of people seem to find work.

Best People used to be good (got me a couple of good contracts back in the day), but I've not heard much from them since I moved into Security.

You could join up on Linked In website & start networking with old contacts?

Thanks for the replies - very helpful. I'll be investigating the sites tonight and putting together a mailshot to previous contacts that might be of help.

Thanks again.

I am a Test Team Lead for a Pharmaceutical software company in Surrey.

The ISEB/ISTQB foundation is something we look for in CV's as this gives a basic understanding, having recently (last week) passed the practitioner this is a lot more in depth an I am already using a lot of the stuff learnt from the course.

From the employer prospective I have found one of the best agencies to work with being Edissero in Godalming.

I found my job on Reed though initially.
