Finished my Retropie build on a Raspberry Pi this week.

Been playing Jackal on Mame and Rebelstar on the Amstrad. Great stuff.

The only downside is there is no BBC emulator on there. Apparently it's possible but needs a bit of work to get it working.

Also gutted that I couldn't get Ring of Darkness on the Dragon to get past the initial character set up and into the game proper.

It doing Mrs Gob's head in!

Yep, you've just reminded me that I have one under the telly and I should probably play with it when I get home tonight!

Yep, got a load of NES, SNES Sega and PS1 games on it, and my son loves playing me on it.

Only slight issue is using a SNES style pad on newer games - I really need to get a PS-style controller for it.

It's really piqued my interest in emulation stuff - I managed to get some PS2 games including Downhill Domination running on my Macbook recently, which was great!

I've mainly played 16bit era stuff on it so far, I've been using an Xbox 360 pad and I'd actually prefer a SNES style one, it's not much cop for anything that uses the D-pad, Street Fighter 2 is MUCH harder than it should be!

Old Amiga games with a mouse and keyboard were fun too.

Yes I have one, not tried a BBC or Dragon emulator on it. I use it for some stuff but prefer real consoles of which I have far too many...

Jakester: A real PS2 and the game could be bought for sub £30 off Ebay if you wanted. Look out for bundles of games, so cheap these days.

I've had my Retropie for a few years now! It gets its annual dusting off over Christmas for a bit of nostalgia.

I have the NES Case:

Modified so the power button works properly.

I have the usual console games, along with a bunch of MAME arcade games. Managed to get Super Mario War, Quake, Darkplaces, Doom, Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, Dune, all working now and probably a bunch more I can't remember. I find the Steamlink quite handy, last year I think I installed emulators on and linked it with Steam and played them through the Steamlink.

My advice for anyone building one of these sytems, is do not add 1000's of games, just stick with the ones you remember. You get bored pretty quickly when you're constantly opening and closing really shit games.

I can't remember the video plugins I use, but I think it was a smoother and some scanlines. I may update it this weekend, ready for Winter.

I've built a small box with arcade joysticks and buttons. I've only run emulators on my laptop so far but plan to get up and running on Retropie soon as I've got 6 weeks of convalescing planned following an operation at the end of this month.

I might build a dedicated Defender box with the joystick & buttons as per the original layout.
