Off next week and wanted to check what insurance providers are out there and who recommends which?

I've used a few in the past and some are easier to claim off if things go wrong and others have been an absolute pain with hidden clauses everywhere.

I've used One Stop Travel Insurance for some time now.

Had a bad accident in Val D'Isere in 2004. They paid for rescue, hospital bills and even taxis to and from the airports. All done with minimal effort on my part and with no fuss.

YMMV though, such is dealing with insurance companies! 🙂

EDIT: I've also claimed a couple of times over the years for lost/stolen stuff (a camera and 2 snowboards, again all sorted no problem).

I went on go compare and got 4 days cover from the AA for £17.

As long as you check the cover is sufficient and the company is reputable....you're sorted.

Just had a good look at insurance - had a good look at the AA and they don't cover Off-piste without a guide. Others cover it within a patrolled area.

Went with Bell in the end - a good price for a good level of cover. God knows what they'll be like to claim against but hopefully we won't have to.

I looked at Dogtag but it was well expensive for a family.

Not sure about family, but snowcard has been great for us as a couple. Good cover too; sorted me out brilliantly when I bust my pelvis and spine in Les Gets.

I used the Post Office, they use fortis insurance.

Now cover seemed reasonable but a i had a slight mishap and broke my back, I have fully tested their service and cannot fault it..

Plenty of calls all bills paid with no issues, and refunded things like TV bill in my room and best of all repatriated me on a piper cub with Peter the Pilot & a nurse and a doctor (who had digestives and tea!)

Flew home, ambulance on tarmac which took me home.

They also paid for mu wife to fly out and see me for 5 days which included transfers to and from airports both ways na d ahotel and meals.

So for me Post office/fortis all the way...
