With work, I get to spend this week in Florence. 8) I'm booked during the day times but evenings are somewhat available.
There's a lot to see here and I can't make up my mind. Has anyone been, and what do you recommend?
The one night I spent there I went for aperitivo at a bar by the British embassy on the banks of the river. Drinks reasonable price and they had a great buffet for a few euros. Lot of friendly locals to talk to. It was a long time ago tho.
Get a bus to Friesole (a 22?) and then walk up to the monastery, stunning view of the city and great restaurant half way up too.
I found the south side of the river a good place to eat/wander as its slightly less touristy than the centre.
