My old backpack is knackered so it's time for a new one. It's not for hiking or owt, just for general bits and pieces when out and about/trips down to the beach, etc. Also used as hand luggage on the plane so needs to fit.
Any thoughts or just get whatever?

5.11 Rush 12 or 24? Both are the right size for hand luggage, but the 12 is that bit smaller. The colours are a bit military, but they do a nice grey colour and "Sandstone" is pretty inoffensive.

Again military (but I like olive green) - I picked up A BCB 25l daysack* that I can't fault, bombroof throwabout with plenty padding on straps and enough airflow padding on back to enjoy a hot day without too much bother at all. Cost me peanuts from a boot sale but I would buy again new or otherwise as has proved an all-time favourite for me so far.

*Identical to the one reviewed here:
