After a merry go round of Smarty and Voxi accounts, I'm considering upgrading to an account where I can get an eSim for my watch.
Any recommendations?

If you qualify, O2 offer an ‘essentials’ plan for £10 per month.

pity that Apple don’t allow iD to the party. Restrictive practices?

do you need calls or just data? I had a giffgaff esim for my phone that worked well

Giffgaff won’t work with eSIM on an Apple Watch.  Whilst eSIM is available on many networks, eSIM on Apple Watch is restricted to certain providers and not the additional users of their network.  So, O2 will work, but not giffgaff, Tesco, etc.

I have Giffgaff and an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and it doesn’t and can’t work.

In the UK that means it’s 02 or EE.  Nothing else.

not any more, I had an add on for three to get an eSIM for my Apple Watch. Was £7.50 or something extra a month though and wasn’t worth it so I cancelled it.

Occasionally they do 12mo deals working out about £5 a month for the watch which might be worth it. Partly I couldn’t stomach the idea a few meg of data a month was doubling my monthlies!

3, EE, O2 and Vodafone all offer it now. They all charge around £7 a month unless you buy the watch from them or get a specific watch-included contract.

Thanks all, I am aware of how it works and who offers it, I was looking for experiences.

Thanks IA, that's sort of what I'm thinking. Not only do you have to pay the extra, but you also have to have one of the 4 (soon to be 3's) premium's contract to start with. I'll keep looking, but at the moment it doesn't really stack up.

Interesting and completely contradictory to Apple’s own website….
