You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all, I find myself i need of a new car at short notice after being hit earlier this week and my car being declared a right off, which isn't that surprising being as it was a 18 year old banger, but it was reliable and cheap to run. Looking around I have decided to go slightly larger as Ford Fiesta's do have limitations when trying to transport bikes or go camping for the weekend, and have found a Peugeot 207 SW that looks as though it will suit my needs, it's a 1.6 petrol automatic variant and whilst I can't see any terrible write ups on the internet it's always nice to hear from some actual or previous owners as to what thy're like to live with and to reliability or known faults etc.
Thanks.
I've had a couple. I like them. Drive well, handle well, roomy, the extra space is practical. If it's the tailgate variant where the glassware is a separate hatch, so much the better.
Engines are generally fine, your 1.6 is the same engine used in Minis and so keep an eye on coolant levels.
They can exhibit rust in the outer sills, near the front. This seems to develop quickly- from one MOT to the next on one of mine it was suddenly in place and caused a fail. A plate got welded in for not much money.
They have a nasty habit of failing EPS pumps. These cause complete shutdown of the car, you can't even have keep-fit steering unfortunately. I seem to remember the part being about £200, but I'd check that. Go here for the part:

I like the glass roof models, but if you get one try and make sure the a/c works.
