Looking for a good place to wild camp near St Sundays Crag, Lake District. Route will take us over fairfield and across the ridge down to Patterdale. Returning to ambleside on day 2 via Bridgend and hart crag. Looking for a suitable overnight pitch - any suggestions?

Thanks Ton. Did look at the tarn but figured it may be as packed as Glenridding campsite at bank holiday and wondered if this was the only option open. any thoughts on this Ton? 🙂

You might be able to find a flatish ledge, near a water supply, in Sleet Cove. How far down will depend on your idea of comfort. Another area is Hutaple but slightly out of your way.

Nice little pool on the route up to the bottom of Pinnacle Ridge perfect flat spot and water though i would boil long and hard before using.

Cheers guys! - have looked at the O.S. map and Pinnacle Ridge and Sleet Cove look like real possibilities. Will keep Grisedale Tarn in mind too though, in case of bad weather and the need to head for lower ground for the night. Feels much more reassuring heading off with a few ideas and the benefit of your experience! Ta 😉
