My other half starts her second degree in a couple of weeks. What would make a nice gift, somethign that is useful as an OT.

Got the hard liquor etc sorted already I would like to get something the equivalent of a nurses watch etc, so she'll see it and use it every day and last for years and years.

Tape measure or laser measure.
But to be fair you can never have enough hard liquor, especially come dissertation time in fourth year. The only way I survived my wife doing the same as yours. Just wait until she starts critiquing the way you stand up out of a chair.

Ha, actually she's been putting up with me studying for the last two years with another to go dissertation year!

Multitools etc for fixing legs and shit? This sounds brilliant!

As a 'hands on' healthcare professional myself I'm sad to say a pen. She'll be using it plenty and there will never be one around.
Just watch out for the Dr's nicking it 🙂

Yes, a distinctive yellow Lamy ballpoint pen and a pack of refills. She won't need the refills for a year as they last forever, but carrying them eliminates one failure point. Being different and yellow means she won't lose it. And if she does she can still use a refill.
