Was sad to hear he passed away last week. I loved the stuff he did with the Pythons (Protest Song is superb) and have heard a few other things such as Urban Spaceman and How Sweet to be an Idiot.
I quite fancy getting an album or two but with someone like him who had a finger in so many musical pies it's hard to know where to start. Any tips gracefully received. I love live albums in general so would be happy with one of those (I know some people much prefer studio releases).
As part of the Ruttles aping everything the Beatles did they released a large compilation called ‘Archeology’ when the Beatles released Anthology
Not Innes per se but a big fan of the Bonzos to which he contributed.
Incidentally have you noticed how much JRM sounds like Viv Stanshall.
Hopefully someone will come up with some creative editing at some point.
A JRM tribute to Bonzo Dog?
I think my favourite Innes song with the Bonzos is Keynsham
Will check out The Rutles album ta. And yes would be interested in what Bonzo albums stand out.
I think it's Neil Innes playing the world's best ever guitar solo on "Canyons of your mind".
the 'cornology' boxset is a superb bonzo collection of everything you'd need.

Saw him a couple if times with the remaining Bonzos (Three Bonzos and a Piano) - some of the best gigs I've seen.
Sam Spoons has gone too. I don't think I've ever seen a funnier or more talented man on stage.
Many years ago, when we didn't watch much TV, just about the only thing we turned it on for was Innes Book of Records. Such a lovely show.
Thank you for all the replies. Will be ordering some stuff tomorrow.
Loved the Bonzo’s & a highlight for me was being taught by Sam Spoons & Roger Ruskin Spears on an Art Foundation Course at the Chelsea School of Art back in about ‘75.
