There was one of these in our garden yesterday evening. According to the interweb its a Hummingbird Hawk moth.
Never seen one before. Is it unusual to get them in the North, well next to Loch Lomond?

wow, amazing things and never seen one this far north. I shall ask an ecologist.

been seen as far north as Shetland. good sighting though!

Hummingbird Hawkmoth it's not unusual to get northern records if there's been southerly winds.
