I opened a Monzo current account for use on holiday. No fees abroad.
Was very happy with it.
We needed a new Business account, I am pissed off with Barclays who have been terrible since lockdown, when they moved all business stuff to online and telephone only. Branch staff could not deal with business account problems. This is now a moot point as they have closed the larger branch that used to help.
So I thought I would try Monzo business. Sign up was painless and the app worked well.
However, I want to add the Mrs on the account but the app has gone into an update loop. Help seems non existence!
Anyone used them before? Should I cut my losses and go somewhere else? Or is this just a "one off"?
I had the same problem with my TSB business account as your barclays, I moved to Metro bank, easy to open and setup, online app is very easy to use and the branches are open 7 days a week and til 6pm weekdays
If your frustration with Barclays was not being able to access services in branch … how does moving to a bank that is app only address that? Wouldn’t it be smarter to look at accounts with banks that do have branches near you?
Lloyds have a branch 12 miles away.
I considered using them but apparently they will be closing in the next 12 - 24 months.
The reason I switched to an app only bank is that I thought they would be easier to deal with and be slicker than a traditional bank working online.
Barclays turned into an absolute nightmare.
What finished it for me was trying to add the Mrs on to an existing business bank account. We have 2 joint accounts with them, 1 business and 1 current. She is a director of the company, on companies house with the same address as the company. The paperwork repeatedly came back with problems, most of which were generated by their systems. Everything still required traditional hard copies. With Monzo, everything is done on line, no hard copies involved.
I have Monzo, Chase and Starling.
Starling for joint and business accounts.
I maybe off the mark here, but it might be worth Mrs Gobchul opening her own personal Monzo account before adding her onto the business account.
Mrs OTS had to have her own Starling account before we could have a joint account on it - I know it's not the same thing as you are asking, but setting up an account first allows all teh security stuff to be completed before tryign to do anything more complicated.
the challenger banks are all very understaffed on their customer support depts (on purpose). If the tech derps out then it can be a real hassle to get things sorted.
No experience as a business user, but I love the simplicity of Monzo as a day to day spending account, no penalties on savings dot withdrawal, so moved some cash to them at a better rate than HSBC.
I don't douch above basic stuff though, so don't often need support.
For app problems, do you mean it's broken locally or a logical loop in the app. Uninstall, remove cached files should sort problem 1, not so much problem 2.
@oldtennisshoes - Thanks for that. We have managed to open a current account in her name and it's just a matter of activating her bank card before we can add her to business account.
🙌
TBH I was very satisfied with my personal account with Monzo, and have since switched both business accounts to Monzo after being dissatisfied with the service from HSBC.
Haven't had a single problem. Slick and quick. The app works well. I love the verification process to sign in through a browser that doesn't require a dozen numbers, usernames, aliases and passwords to access.

That was my experience until this point.
It was very frustrating. The help from their chat is very slow and poor. They eventually told me to call their helpline, which after multiple menus, told me that they could not help and I must go on the chat!
My problem was solved from advice on here.
I agree that when it's working it's good but the help is very poor.
However, it's still not as annoying as dealing with Barclays Business, as they failed to solve my issue. I have 2 very active business accounts with them and I seriously thinking of moving to Monzo.
I will see how Monzo is over the next few weeks and then make a move.
