I have a 3g i phone on locked to o2
I asked about jailbreaking an i phone last night on STW, I ended up having a with the blackrain free jobbie...
All seemed ok, the app downloaded on the phone, it did its stuff.
I can now see the 3 which relates to my new sim (ie its a 3 sim) however the phone says "new sim detected connect to i tunes"
when i try and connect to i tunes, it says "there is a problem with your i phone, it may be damaged please contact your local store"
I take out the 3 sim and the phone works fine, i dont have the original 02 sim to test it, but i am sure it would work ok.
On blackrains website it discusses NOT jailbreaking a 3.1.2 firmware phone (which mine is)...... damn
didnt notice this before doing it......
have i scewed up the phone completely?
will a full restore put it back to how it was?
Will o2's unlock (due in about 14 days) still work?
If i buy one of the many jailbreak downloads that say that they can cope with 3.1.2 will this work?
Doesn't blackra1n have an "Unjailbreak" option?
If not then do a full restore and wait for the official O2 unlock.
I didn't think you needed to jailbreak to remove the sim lock...? am i wrong?

Usually when it says connect to itunes on the phone with the USB image, just connect it and run blackra1n again. If it doesnt work a full restore will work, you may need to put it into recovery mode. Google for instructions.
They changed the terms for the PAYG unlocking. They didnt have the option to unlock before the 12 months free Web and Wifi bolt on expired.
I went through loads of crap with blackra1n
Basically it jailbreaks the latest firmware but it can't unlock it.
If you get in trouble just restore the phone through iTunes the normal way and it will be back to how it was before it's first sync.
I bet you wish you had waited the 14 days now eh? Then all you would have to have done is Jailbreak only.
Anyways,
Restore the iphone through itunes.
Wait for o2 to unlock.
Jailbreak again.
